IMO Vararam Ram Air Intake. I've done a bunch of smaller / medium mods on my C5 (exhaust, intake, headers, shifter, CAGS, MP3, minor appearance mods,...), and that one is best "bang for the buck", for me.
First mod I did was forged wheels and Pilot supersport tires. First things that come to mind is cam and exhaust (the nasty cammed idle is was brought me to the vettes)
It's amazing the range of answers to this question. Remember its not best bang for buck or or any reasonable cost. No doubt a supercharger get you more hp than any other mod so it's high on the list. The stock car is so good i'll go with the sc.
No doubt best overall performance feel upgrade for the money. People seem to overlook rear gears but it makes a huge difference all through the power band. The car is completely different with them, much more quick feeling.

Not many people that choose a supercharger as the only mod are able to stick to the "one mod only" part. That is why I chose gears but I still haven't read if car is auto or not? Did I miss it? M6 or A4 will definitely change my answer!
The mod that I've appreciated the most is fixing the damn rocking seats!! About $2 worth of nylon washers from Ace Hardware and a little time in the garage on a Sat!
After reading all these posts I concluded that there IS NO ONE MOD. Do them all damn it & be done with it. $20-30K will get you into super car category in no time.
