I think this setup would be fine. Not sure on how the handling would be though with two different tread patterns. Just keep it as a sunny cruiser as they won't handle well in the rain.

I have never once had a sketchy moment in the rain in any of those cars. Are people letting them go baby's *** bald and then blaming poor wet traction on the tires or something?
Is the 295-35-18 the largest to fit on the rear stock rim without any issues?
305/35/18's on mine with room to spare.
Edit: Bear in mind the nitto drag radials do run slightly narrower than other tires. If you put a 305 NT555 next to a 305 NT555r you will see a visible difference between the two, even though they are claiming the same section width.

I have done 65mph in rain soaked roads and in the rain with NT05rs with my turbo Camaro that put down 725 as well as DD a 470rwhp coyote daily 60miles each way and I did not have any issues what so ever, now the et street radials were/are a different story but I wouldn't hesitate to drive them in rain or shine.

Is that the 555r that you have in that size? I think the nt05r runs slightly bigger from what I remember with my 315/35/17

Depends on how you drive it. Do your MTs grab 1st gear and hold? NT05Rs will not, unless your 630rwhp is very peaky at the top end of the rev-range, and not a lot of low-end TQ.
I find the tires a great compromise for the type of driving I do, which is roll-on acceleration pulls, and street driving where I can still enjoy the car (solid handling, twisty roads from time to time, etc). MTs and other super-soft compounds offer lousy handling in comparison, but better straight line traction for sure.
Sorry, I totally missed this thread. They are on c6z rep wheels 18/19 I am 275/35/18 front and 305/35/19 rears (I believe, I will check later today). I have ran nittos on all my fun cars for a long time I love them.

When I ran Nitto NT555R II tires they were down right scary in the rain. I had them hydro plan quite a bit even on full tread when I drove in the rain. I couldn't go much more than 50 mph. So that is where I made the statement. Perhaps these tires are different but I was concluding that based on past 100 treadwear Nitto tires.

That is your experience so I can't deny what happened to you, I'm just surprised to hear it. I've always had great luck with Nitto DR's in the rain, and ironically I've got the 555R II's on my Z now and same great wet traction, and I'm also in rainy Florida as well.
Moral of the story to potential Nitto buyers is your mileage may vary I guess.

I have the same driving style. My ets do hook pretty well but won't hold 1st gear and sometimes not the top of second depending on road surface. Maybe I will try them out next time around.
I looked at the NT-01s, but they don't have 295-35/18. Would have to go with 305-35/18s on the rears. Also, they are more of a road course tire vs the NT-05 that is a drag radial. For my driving I think the 05s are a better fit.
