Being OCD as well, looks like i have more work ahead of me.
Thanks ! Just take one wheel at a time. Dont try to do all 4 or you will be overwhelmed.

I feel like those lines show the presicion of the great machining CCW does when they forge the wheels. Rounding out those edges makes them look even more like C5 DD wheels...
I never rounded any edges. I just sanded off the rough/uneven forging lines on the flat surfaces.

I have always been a fan of these wheels on the FRC. It just seems to "work" for the look I think. Plenty of good looking wheels out there though.

Guys

I just wanted to be more clear on what I'm trying to correct on my wheels.
These imperfection's have been on the wheels since I got them new 8 yrs ago.

Last night I pulled my front passenger wheel. This wheel has not been polished in months.

You can see the forging bumps on the sides of the 5 spokes.

You can see the forging lines on the inner barrel.

You can see the forging lines on the lip

I started sanding this wheel last night. I have not polished it yet though. The below is me sanding with 320 grit.... getting rid of all the imperfections in the wheel. I sanded he entire wheel to 3000 grit last night and plan to polish it tonight. Took me about 3 hours to fully sand the wheel.

Here is the stack of sand paper to prove it...

I have the CCW 505a wheels... They are billet raw aluminum wheels JUST LIKE "Toque's wheels" I too did the sand and polish job,,, several times in the time that I have owned the rims.

What I found out is the barrel portion of the rims take a beating from brake dust sand, dirt etc etc and require a LOT more attention than the outside spokes and rim.

I coated my inside barrels with clear coat after they were clean and polished. The ONLY thing that you have to worry about is any pitting. It will need to be removed or the oxide will find its way out and make a small bubble in the clear coat.

You only cleared the barrels and not the spokes or rim?

NO,,, I cleaned sanded, polished EVERYTHING. The barrels just take the brunt of the dirt and dust and require the most maintenance.

Those look absolutely stunning! You're a better man than I am. I don't think I'd have the patience to do that. I sold my '98 last October and I'm now the proud owner of a 2016 Arctic White Z06 with black wheels. You car has been, and always will be one of my all-time favorites. By the way, there's nothing wrong with a little OCD.
