I could never let my wheels get that bad. If you take care of them and clean them the right way the wheels should last a very long time. Doesnt matter if they cost 1k or 5k, if you neglect them they will start to look horrible.

I learned a long time ago that it's too expensive to buy anything too cheap...

I always say , I cant afford to buy anything too cheap.

I bought a set of chrome Cragar wheels for my Monte Carlo back in the 70's and they bubbled up too. And it was obvious that these wheels were on the owners daily driver not someones pride and joy. I did not intend to insult any present owners who are happy with what they have. I am value conscious too but rather than buy new "replica's" i choose either factory original (I have a set of Z06 wheels) or a high quality custom wheel (I bought a used,not perfect, set of CCW's) to run on my car. I'd put my original wagon wheels back on before a used a wheel that I posted.

If you can buy $500 wheels, then you can buy $1500 wheels. You just save three times as long.

2. reproduction Z51 C 7 wheels (900.00
3. = 2400.00

my car looks a hell of a lot better and no comparison on ride and handling !!!!! (with new wheels I had many more options on tire size)

You know, I guess we all have priorities. I bought my car new. I know a lot of you would not. Some of you would not buy repo wheels. But yet i did because they serve my purpose and i knew i would take care of them so they would last. I have spent big money on brake pads a rotors that i know that most would not. So like i said not all of us have the same priorities were we spend our money on our car. So it doesn't make it right or wrong how we spend our money. I thought it was a bit much for the OP to start on repo wheels like he did with that photo. Just a bit of over kill.

I agree with what your saying, so where should I have started to eliminate the overkill?

Show a photo of a wheel that was cared for that had a piece of chrome pealing or pitted.

Some take others view personal and some day they (we) will get "OVER IT" just think of all the vendors we support,so I vote we should get free parts for one month :rof l:

Your car looked great when you bought it, but looks amazing now. Love the black on silver theme you've gone with. Nicely done akapounder.

There is more to wheels than how they look! Think about that for a while. You get what you pay for. To me putting cheap wheels on a vette just makes no sense.

I do think about the safety end of it, I'm fairly sure they are not going to sell a wheel that would cause them a lawsuit !!!!! not to mention it seems to me I read about a 5 spoke GM wheel that on more than one occasion has cracked ??? If money was no object I would most definitely buy a more expensive wheel (cause they cost more doesn't mean they are better) Then there is the notorious Corvette Tax !!!!!!!!
I am not Drag racing my car or Tracking it !!!!!!!
You want Kooks 1600.00 I want XS Power 800.00 your happy and I'm happy !!!!

When it comes to good forged wheels I believe you absolutely get what you pay for. Who cares what headers you have if they fail! To each his own, I bought my car to drive it thats why I said
"It makes no sense to me". If it was a carolla I would agree, but its a vette!
