That really sucks and I think about this every time I take mine out of the garage, but they did a wonderful job on the repair. I'll agree that it's important to get a good repair job, but the worse part is want is going to happen to your Carfax report. Having just purchased a 2001, I searched for a clean Carfax and then fewest owners. I did notice that an accident depreciated the cars I was looking at an extra $2000-$3000 and since all states have different laws, it impossible to tell the extent of the damage by the Carfax, just that it's been wrecked.
In this case it would be a good idea to keep the pictures to show potential buyers that it was only cosmetic damage.
I saw post in this thread questioning if the low stance of our cars contributes to some the crashes we experience. I don't know if that is it, but I can say that people pull out in front of me all the time. Or move over on me in lane changes. Their excuse is always, " I didn't see you". My 01 C5 vert is torch red and my 74 C3 is mille miglia red and they are the cars that this happens to all the time. You would think RED would stick out. Todays drivers are just bad, period.
They painted all 3 panels.. Bought a new door that came in worst than the door on it so it got returned for another one...
2 shops didn't want to work on it because all the panels are discontinued ...
See? That's exactly what I mentioned a few months back when you first posted about the door.

Door damage is going to become a big head ache for C5 owners. It's a big head ache for any car that is older, but with the C5's design it'll be hard to source used doors that will repair a car in a cosmetic accident.

When I was looking, I by passed anyone of the cars with a damage report, the owners never got a chance to present pictures of the damage. I probably missed a few good ones, but that's what happens.

Carfax reports have stopped me from looking at certain cars too.

Exactly what I'm worried about with my car and the accident the little girl caused me!! Insurance company doesn't want to give anything towards the loss of value since it's my insurance covering everything and she didn't have any! What kills me further is my lawyer said he won't be able to get much out of it either since he's dealing solely with personal injury. So, I'm supposed to lose $2-$3k just like that and nobody is held liable but me who didn't cause the accident??? Still waiting on my car since 2/22!!!

If you have had no prior accidents in the car, make sure they compensate you for the devaluation hit you are going to take on the car. Anytime you try and sell it from now on, an automatic $ 2000.00 - $3,000.00 deduction is going to come right off the top. This includes trade in value as well.
People do not really look for non clean Carfax Vettes, unless they are priced much lower than their counterparts. Don't let his insurance company off the hook. Demand it.

That's a great link! Thanks for posting it! In my case, still ongoing, the at fault party didn't have insurance! So, getting that extra cash out of them personally will most likely be a cold day in hell, considering they can be found at fault, but only end up with a Judgement on their record if they don't pay.
Does not matter. It is going to be worth $2,000 - $ 3,000 less regardless. Go and try to trade it with in unclean Carfax and see what happens.
Still it will be easier to sell if the potential buyer can actually see that the damage was cosmetic only and the repairs made it as good as new. Without the pics no one would really know how hard it was hit.
You can take the other driver to small claims court to get loss of value compensation if the insurance company won't cover it. The other party is still responsible for the damage/loss even if they don't have insurance.

Yes, I agree but like I also said, can't force anyone to pay....only get a Judgement on their record....can deter them from getting credit, but big deal.
