Default Air Cleaner Post-Access Question

I am replacing my stock air filter assembly with a CAI and found one of the two posts was missing or broken off. The post has a thread and the nut attaches from the other side but I cant seem to find access to that area. Looks like some major disassembly. Any advice much appreciated. Thanks!

Those posts are not fastened using nuts. They have threaded inserts in the frame. Your threaded insert may have fallen out. You will need to re-insert a new one if you want to re-attach one of the posts.

I am assuming that your aftermarket CAI requires those posts to stay in place? I would think that one would suffice.

My local Chevy dealer said they had a nut and post in stock, he might have thought the insert was a nut from the exploded diagram. This makes sense as looking down last night I thought I saw and felt an insert but wasn't sure what it was. The AiRaid CAI does show to mount to these posts. As you say, one would probably be enough. Currently my stock filter always bothered me sitting cockeyed on just one post.
What if the insert has a broken post thread still inside, shall I just somehow pop out the old insert and press into place the new one?

The insert is called a CLINCH NUT.

You can try to cut a slot in the part that's broken off inside the nut and use a flat blade screw driver to try to back out the broken stud

or

Drill a hole in the center and use an easy out to back it out!

If either of those methods fail and I need to replace the Clinch Nut, does it simply press fit/snap in?
