They have always been hoagies to me, no matter if I'm in Canada, Maine, Tennessee or California...
I love the looks when I ask for a hoagie, or some breakfast scrapple. Habbersets Only.
Hoagies are original to Philly you know... they were named a such by the long shore man workers at Hog Island, Philly. They were called zeppelins, blimps, submarine sandwiches, but those made in Philly during the war ( The Big one WWII ).. those sandwiches were for the Hog Island workers and those sandwiches became known as Hoagies.
Not to be confused with a steak " WIT " as in Philly cheese steak...... wit cheese-Wiz, wit fried onions, wit hot pepper sauce

Just wanted to say thanks for this thread. I thought my 2000 FRC was just designed with a pathetic console that barely opened. Just went out and added some WD40 and voila! now it's opening fully.

Are you sure wedges? I thought wedges were pizza in Queens, and Slices in the other four boroughs.
Yep, my mother was "you know hon, I feel like a pie"....usually about 10:30 on a Friday nite. Then she or Dad would say " want a meatball wedge, son?" (I didn't eat pizza till I was 15... don't ask! )
I've only been around here a short while, but I find The C.T.I's fastinating. We are very lucky to be able to get these tidbits that can't be found anywhere else. I wish there was a way to put them all together in a sticky.
