Whenever you see a red car with a horse, you instantly know it's a Ferrari.

Funny no one else picked up on that!

The C7 Z06 is an awesome looking machine, the BASE not so much, even the Z rear looks good ditto the C6Z. Love the GS versions on both Gen's too, the wide body makes all the difference, having said that , wondering why GM can't seem to design the OE wheel gaps better, the 4x4 gaps sucks, just my .02

^^^ The gap is for transport and the loading and unloading off the cars off the truck. Most dealers don't bother with adjusting the height using stock bolts as that also requires a secondary alignment.

Sorry to digress from the OP's subject and I understand that, but even at it's lowest stock bolt setting the gap is too much especially on Z cars, the base seems to sit lower than the Z at it's lowest setting, one shouldn't have to install coil overs or lowering spindles to achieve the proper height.

Not sure if this is true, if it was GM would pay dealers during the PDI process to lower and align the car and wouldn't bother aligning it at the factory at all.

I asked our local dealer service advisor about this when I originally inquired about lowering my first Vette on stock bolts and he told me most dealers don't alter the height during PDI as their job is to roll them out and sell them as fast as possible. GM actually providers dealers with PDI bulletins for all models and it lists "optimal" ride height and it's lower than factory height. The factory adjusts the height and associated alignment for the transport trucks as well knowing that many dealers simply roll the cars off the trucks and onto the sale lots. That's another reason why any C7 Stage 2 or Stage 3 aero components are installed at the dealership.

I don't know how it works these days in the Dealership, in my time the prep Tech got 1.4 hours to prep a new car. I had a short time at a Olds Dealer and the prep guy took off the plastic and called it good. Then I would get one of those cars after it was sold, I would be upset to say the least. Then my major time at a Cadillac Dealer the prep guy was paid by the hour and the owner would get very upset if the prep wasn't perfect ???

This still doesn't answer my question. Why would GM take their flagship car and deliver it "non optimal"? I've seen cars lower than Vettes go on/off transport trucks as a 12 year tech and a 8 year service advisor.

Why would GM align the car to take care of $2000 worth of PS2 tires if it needed to be lowered again and aligned at the dealer to be "optimal"?

This has always made zero sense to me.

If any Z06 was road tested by a magazine or what not why wasn't it lowered and realigned? You can see these cars, especially the C5's and C6's were not lowered.

The car is delivered in "street duty" form, there is a spec for the car to be used for "track duty" which is to be lowered, or it was on the C5 anyway.
