IF any of the C5 models are going to "sky rocket" it would be unmolested, low mileage, pristine condition '99 and '00 Hardtop/FRC as those were the most limited of the standard production models of the C5 line. But my '99 FRC wouldn't be worth much more than market value as it has been lightly modified and it has almost 175k miles on it. I didn't buy it to make money off of it...I bought it to drive...and I DRIVE IT ALOT!!!

That article is crap! The market has a ton of "well used" C5's. He is right about most being owned by owners that love them and wax them, however not all have the cash to buy a new ride and not look at the vette as equity. Most are on their second or third, forth owner by now. That "I bought it new" feeling is long gone. I'm the third owner of my 97 and it had less than 90k miles. I baby it and garage keep her but I'm under no illusions that it's a $17k ride. I love it and can't help but to modify everything, heads,cam,exhaust,intake,shocks, swaybars, shifter ,rims,seats,HUD. I've been a car nut since the 70's so i know the addiction, but many days I wonder if I shouldn't have taken my $14k in cash and bought a decent used Z71 truck for 8k and an Infinity G35 sedan for $6k. Somebody please tell me I did the right thing.

according to road and track they will be a dime a dozen as all the c5 owners die by the thousands or head to the nursing homes

the 04 z06 ce with 874 documented miles may start to appreciate but i can't imagine a 75k mile coupe going up

I just don't get the whole FRC thing. Yes they look good from certain angles. My coupe looks just as good from 90% of those angles. But the thrill of the top off experience is just second to nun ! It's the best of both worlds. Feels like a hard top in the winter months and a convertible in the summer months. But with less wind noise. Maybe its living in Florida that makes it such a big deal. Yes it's humid and hot a lot but those days when it's 70 degrees and dry, going topless is AMAZING ! You hear more exhaust note, smell the environment, feel the driving experience .

Was watching Mecum the other day (Texas repeat) and they (the hosts) were saying the 99 and 00 FRC's might start bring bigger dollars due to low production numbers ?? Not that this means that much ??

The "BillyBob" Corvette will never bring what a Z06 brings.
Bare bones collectibles only bring extra $$$s if they are higher horsepower than the others. No one wants a 58 Impala with a 6 cylinder engine.
Of course this is my opinion, but it's based on watching car prices for over 60 years.

why are they cheaper now (Verts)? But I was talking compared to the lower production numbers of the non Z FRC not verts . I do think the Z will always bring more than a vert, Just like now. Time will tell, but there are tons of verts and they are not used for track cars like Zs are, so IMO,there will be even less Zs in the future.

I didn't bother to read the posted story. No offense to the poster, I've already read other fantastic considerations.
If I built a big ol ramp, had an unlimited pile of nylon cargo straps, and a big giant rocket motor, my 03 would skyrocket. That would be a more predictable lift than expecting the price to rise unusually above market in the future. But then I always have trouble predicting the future, I start to sweat, speak in unknown tongues, and usually have to go lay down afterwards. And that is just for Moped pricing.

as a matter of fact the FRC is "the" reason I looked at the C5 in the first place,
