Skat, I've retold your story to friends....it's that good!
I have also shared this story with my prior vet buddies and they are
really amazed at this story with the great ending. This Z06 is staying
with me as long as I can get in and out and can handle the clutch.
By the way, my son lives up in Short Hills which is not to far from you. Pretty area up there. (in summer).
Yes it's very pretty. I'm 10 min from there. A cruise group I belong to does an east coast "concours on the avenue" Fathers Day in Summit. About 400 cars!
Back in 2009 I bought my EB Z06 with 22000 miles on it. I drive it quite often and it now has 37000 miles on it. I also drive my 1991 and 2000 so the miles do not pile up. My Z06 is lowered and at 74 years old I have no problem getting in and out of it. Stay young and enjoy it.

Great story! Congrats on finding your vette! Very sharp!
Thanks for the comment. All I can say is driving the Z06 puts a huge smile on my face. I had forgotten how much fun this is after selling it in 2009.
To get my car back is really a dream come true.
I will never understand not driving these cars (unless you have 20 of them). I love driving my car and do just because I can most days. I average between 25-30k a year and love every minute of it.

I can sort of understand if one gets a car that has about 2 k on it, but again, why look at it? There were too many made for most of them to have any collector status at this point.

This car has always been a 3rd car in my family. This first time I owned
it I used in for nice drives in the evening or weekends. It did make a
trip from Florida to the NCM, which was a blast. Now 8 years later,
it is still a 3rd car to be enjoyed and driven a little more than the first
time around. I have no expectations of it becoming collectable in the
near future.
I owned a 96 CE LT4 for 10 years prior to the Z06. When I sold it the
mileage was around 45K.
The first Vette I ever owned was a Nassau Blue 66. I had it for about
2 years, sold it with around 30K miles when I went into the Navy.
Still have the original bill of sale.
