Default Fog Light Replacement

Okay guys, who knows how to replace a burned out bulb in a fog light? I own a 2000 C5 and my drivers side fog light is out and needs replacement. I've taken a close look from the front, and can't figure out how to get at it. Do I need to put the car up on a lift in order to access it from underneath, or is there an easier way? Anything you can tell me will be appreciated.

Manually raise the headlamp on the side where you have the problem.
Remove the black plastic shroud around the headlamp.
Look down in the cavity below the headlamp and you will see the back of the fog lamp.
The bulb and socket require a 1/2 twist and pull back to remove from the fog lamp housing.
Disconnect the wiring/socket and then replace the burned out bulb with a new one.
I think the bulb is an 880 -899 size

There is also a lower access panel in front of the tire that you can easily remove to access the fog lights from under the car.

if your hands/forearms are small enough: Push the brake duct out of the opening and out of they way. stick your hand in the hole and do it that way. It's a twist the socket then pull it out kind of fixture. pull the whole thing out the brake duct hole, then swap the bulb and reverse...

Worked for me!

Thanks for the information buddy. Just a few more questions if you will. What do you mean by "manually raise the headlamp" ? Is there an alternate way to open other than with the switch? And number two, do I have to remove the headlight in order to get my hand and arm down there? Sorry, but this is all new to me. I do appreciate your help.

As to question 2, it all depends on the size of your forearms

BTW, all this is in the user manual as well as easily found on a Google search.

While you are down there, install some 855's. Inexpensive and makes a big difference if you re-aim them afterwards

OR,

Install a set of 50 watt HIDs ........you will be amazed how well these work in the stock fog housings.
Adjust them so their top cut off is just below where your low beams hit.

I have been running HIDs in my fog projectors since 2006 and they really work well.
