You must realize that your car is a 20 year old car. Once you get near that collectability age range then the formula will be the price of the stock car then total the price of the modes divide by 10 and SUBTRACT from the value of the car.

Yeah, like an LS1/6speed , tube frame and C4 suspension subtracts from the value of a 1959 Corvette.

Or a built LS9 subtracts from the value of an otherwise basketcase 63 split window....

Wrong.

Generally speaking, those restomods can pull in significant dollars, but still significantly less than what was put into them. They are a special class and in no way compare to the car here in question. And note that original cars still sell for FAR more than modded cars (even the expensive restomods) if its the right car - like the black & blue 67 400HP car that sold for $600K. I'm not even counting rare cars like L88s that sell in the millions.

I'd prefer a draftsman with attention to detail than an engineer with OCD...
Seriously, a PEng doing the work would not help. Knowing his knowledge and skills of vehicles firsthand perhaps. Better an experienced shop...

Look, I'm an NCRS member and have driven my fair share of 6 figure Corvettes.

Whether resto-mod or original (style) restored more than resale value is put into them.

I've put 6 years of my life into a 1957 that wasn't worth the sum of parts, much less the TIME.

Don't move the goal posts, you claimed one thing and then flip. The c5 isn't a classic yet so its a moot point anyhow.

Yeah some of us here have nicer machines than kbb has any clue about, that doesn't mean you have to give them away like used sneakers when wanting to sell.

Doesn't help when few places finance cars this age, the spot between classic and just... old... that's the biggest hurdle. The pool of people with $23k cash isn't that great compared to the pool wanting financing.

That's why I gave my advice to sell the parts separate if possible. Reclaim the most $ but even on the car, saying its worth barely a grand or two above stock when the car has c6z brakes, blower, etc and obvious care from a person that would throw effort at the car... is ludacris.

That's all, idiots that think its worth similar to kbb or even less is an insult to basic common sense.

Yes. Because my first thought would be, why? To me (not knowing you, your car, or the car's history) my first thought would be that you don't think the car can handle the power without blowing up. I guess I don't understand why someone would add nitrous and a blower and then not actually using them.

Look....I'm not bashing your car. You've done pretty much exactly what I'm contemplating doing to my car over the next year. You asked for help pricing. Unfortunately, C5s have a ceiling and that ceiling is lower for every model year older. List it for 25k and see what you can get. Or part it out and sell separate for more money. If you go that route, I'm interested in your nitrous setup.

Dude....Let's not bring KBB in to this. I think we can all agree they are worthless. I have yet to buy, sell, or trade a car for KBB value. For the life of me, I don't even know how they are still in business.

Reading your post I think we might be talking about two different things. You say a couple times about the cars "worth." I think this car is worth high $20s. But the problem is no one is going to pay that. At least to me, there is a difference in what something is worth and what you will be able to sell it for. I have a museum quality NCRS Top Flight C4. What it's "worth" and what it is insured for are no where near what I could actually get if I sold it.

Mobile 1 is not good enough for our cars? What's that all about?

Mobil 1 sucks actually.

When hot it gets thin. Known to cause lifter tap. Change to Castrol Syntec same viscosity and problem gone.

I never use Mobil.

You are correct. A stock bottom end LS1 (even a lot of forged examples) can not handle a 250hp shot of NOS with 12-14psi of boost (on top of the heads/cam/intake/exhaust). Neither can the rest of the drivetrain.

I don't know why its so hard to understand why someone doesn't want to beat the crap out of their car. I enjoy building the car, not beating the crap out of it. Just knowing its faster than the next guy is good enough for me. It looks fast and sounds fast. I don't need to prove it.

From the way you talk I bet you that your car spends 90% of the time at WOT. If people would steer clear of a modded C5, they better run from a stock C5.

If you plan on making all my mods be prepared to spend $25k+ on parts alone. If you don't plan on doing the work yourself then plan on spending $35-40k. Also keep in mind, according to many on this thread, that all that work is really only worth $2000-4000 AND to some its actually worth negative $2000-4000.

If you don't enjoy working on your car, as I do, you would be silly not to just sell your stocker and buy an already modded example that has everything you already want. And it would be a huge bonus to find one that hasn't already had the life beat out if it.

Why would you want to put two NOS bottles in the back of your car for "show only"? You could have just put a SC shell under the hood and not plumb it in. Unsuspecting gawkers would think it's legit....

For those of you interested thus far the general consensus is that my car is worth somewhere between $15k-$25k.

From all the feedback I think it would fetch a price between $17k-22k but possibly with a long wait for the right buyer (especially on the higher end). As many have suggested I would probably be better off returning the car to stock and selling the parts separately.

Based on feedback, currently I'm thinking that I may just pull the SC kit (complete with WBO2, gauges, 60# injectors, FP, etc.), NOS kit, and rear tires/wheels and leaving the rest on the car. As far as I know I have the only 18x12 Y2k polished Alcoa wheels on the planet. I think we will all agree that the Y2K wheels are the best looking C5 wheels ever made.

The shell doesn't whistle/whine when you drive it.

I'm a Fast and Furious fan. I wanted the NOS kit. For all unsuspecting gawkers, those NOS cheater solenoids would push 250hp though that engine when the accelerator hit the floor. . I think I have 25hp jets installed right now. You wouldn't even know the NOS was on.
Now that Street Outlaws is so popular and a lot of those cars run multiple kits since my MAF plate supports two kits I might add another kit. Then unsuspecting gawkers would think I'm just a button press away from 500hp.

Most uneducated gawkers would assume they are looking at a 1200-1500hp beast when in reality its probably closer to 500hp.
