I live in a non-front plate state also. If you run handicap registration you can choose between a plate or a placard. Most like the placard as our state law allows it to be swapped between vehicles if they are registered by the same person.
Drive what you want and what you're able to. If you're disabled but can get by in a Corvette then what does it matter what people say? Telling someone they're number one with the single finger salute works well in a pinch.

You may not want to leave your car unattended if you give someone the bird. Inviting a douchebag to vandalize your car does not work well in a pinch. Pointing to your placard with a smile is much safer for your car.
I wish I could walk playing golf....A year ago I was a 2 handicap but haven't played in 2017....I miss it!!! Hopefully this summer I can get back into it.
I didn't play but a couple times this year myself. I'm not as good as you, but I was taking care of my wife the first part of the year. After she passed I really didn't feel like playing. I have a bad heart and nuropathy, in my feet and hands. I'm planning on playing more this year, but have to have a cart to play, even then I won't be able to play 18 at first, have to work up to it. I'm afraid to leave the Vette in a handicap spot if the lot is full, so I usually do my shopping in the very early AM.
Okay Forum Brothers and Sisters, Since I have decided to drive my 2003 A/E more instead of being a garage queen, I have been hit with an unexpected situation. In Kansas we don't have front license plates, and I have Disabled Veteran Handicap Plates on the rear, so I don't need a Window Handicap Placard. OK the situation which has come up 5 times just this month. I was parked at Dick's sporting goods, when a lady came up and said are you handicap, just because you drive a corvette doesn't mean you can park there. I was so flabbergasted, I wanted to tell her to F@@K O** but i just pointed to my rear plate. Then at Walmart this lady walked around my car checking, why I parked in a Handicap spot, When I walked up she made a statement "Handicap people don't drive corvettes" and the story goes on....I'm seriously thinking about going back to regular plates before I knock someone out for being so rude. Do I look handicap wearing clothes and when I'm standing still "NO", but on the inside I'm all shot up and bad heart. I guess the question or responses is what the forum members would tell people in this situation...This is a first for me.
I feel like I'm handicapped everytime I scrunch my body into the Vette. Age make a difference. Wonder if I can get handicap plates....LOL
I bought my husband a Corvette for his birthday. It is beautiful. It is his baby. We recently joined a Corvette club and have events a couple of times a month. I am disabled. I have severe arthritis. I have severe back issues and post-fusion of my lumbar spine. and have residual weakness in my left lower extremity. I had a stroke affecting my right side resulting in weakness about 15 months ago. I would like to take our Corvette when we go to the events. I am walking and can get up from a regular chair and bed. I can get in the car but my legs can not help me get out of the corvette. It takes 2 people to assist me. I am asking for help. I am thinking of cushions on the seat but doubt they would do the trick. I use a step stool to get in and out of our Ford Excursion. I get in and out or our Mercedes SUV and Mercedes convertible. I plan to ask my physical therapist to see if he can help with strengthening. Any ideas, suggestions, or similar experiences? Kathy
Here's a tool you can use to help, it is pretty cheap. A cushion may help some. if you use this with your right hand and have your husband hold your left hand, this might make it a bit easier to get out of the passenger side. Good luck!
Both my parents were disabled. There is no real easy solution here as the Corvette sits low and there are no real grab handles over your head. The one shown above is all I have seen.
We always had good luck with Mom in the SUV as she could pull her self up and slide out but my Fiero and Corvette were just not cars she could ever get in or out of. No way Dad could ever have done it.
I would think pillows would be uncomfortable to ride on.
One solution at home is to install a trapeze on the garage ceiling. With the top out you could pull up but there would be no help on the road. But with weakness on the right that still may not be a help.
They do make hydraulic lifts to move people from a bed to a wheel chair With the roof off you may be able to use one of those to reach a standing position. I would speak to a medical equipment company,. I used to work for one and we used to modify things for many people.
