All buttoned up and working! Took about an hour and a half to put it all back together. All HUD displays are working, correct idle rpms, turn signals, fuel, temp, oil pressure, done! Even blurry, I like it.
Interesting side effect, in the gauge cluster the right turn signal wasn't working before. Now it's working fine. I did check the cluster connections and everything looked good. The tach seems to be working too. Side benefits.

Does the car have the original windshield? I have heard some complaints that non HUD replacement windshields may not produce as sharp of an image.
I'm enjoying following you bringing the car back to life.
Thanks! That is an excellent question. I'm not sure if this is the original windshield, but it does have the DW1430 stamp which I believe is the correct HUD type.
Here's something interesting. Apparently the Google maps car caught my car while it was still sleeping in the original owner's driveway. Yes that's the same car as the pic above. I did get the original wheels with it, but they definitely need refinishing.
Last night I went for my first real drive with the HUD, drove down to visit my daughter for her birthday. Daytime, dusk and night and I noticed something interesting. When my vision is looking down the road, the HUD is definitely clearer than looking at it in the garage. Totally usable. I think it's likely the best I will get for now, unless I wanted to replace the HUD and maybe the windshield. In any case, I'm very happy with the work. All in was about 5 hours of being careful and I have a working HUD again.
Also last night's drive was in the rain pretty much all evening. Great for knocking the pollen out of the air and off the car, but wow my headlights are dangerous. I think I'm moving them up the list for fixing as soon as possible. I wasn't convinced about Radioflyer's upgrade, because I usually upgrade with euro E-code lamps. But finding a set of euro C5 lamps is tough, and even when I did find a pair the price is way out there.
I want to upgrade the headlights, fogs and at the very least get the DRLs swapped for LED bulbs. I think that's going to happen sooner than later.
Haven't updated this thread in a while because I've just been driving. The car has been fantastic, taking us everywhere we want to go. A big change from my old C4 ZR-1 is my wife likes traveling in the C5, says "lets take the Corvette!" She NEVER said that with the C4.
It spent this past week sitting in the open in the Atlanta airport parking lot, while I was on a business trip. Got back last night pretty late, hopped in and had a really nice 1:15 minute drive back home to Jasper. My only gripe was the stock headlights suck badly, but more on that in a minute.
I do notice it's not nearly as stable as the ZR-1 was, definitely a little nervous on the highway cruising at speed, and I get a vibration through the steering wheel and body above 70mph. Looks like it's due for a high-speed balance and precision alignment. That made a world of difference in the ZR-1. So I'll be making an appointment for that in the next few weeks.
Tomorrow we get to wake at oh-dark-thirty and head to Hiawassee for a morning 5k and then relaxing for the weekend at Lake Chatuge. That will be an epic drive across North GA in the C5, can't wait for that. Only thing is, I'll still have the stock headlights in there because I just don't have the time to get the new ones installed before tomorrow morning.
Just a public service announcement, clean your radiators! This was the junk pile I pulled from mine, first with my hand (gloved), and then multiple passes with the air compressor. Definitely a result of the car sitting in the weeds for so long. It still isn't perfect, but my running temps went from mid-230s to 195-205, much better.
I also just learned about cleaning the udders...I'll be doing that next. I'll bet they are just as clogged.
Goodies have arrived! Radioflyer's bi-xenon kit, also got the LED fog conversion, and there's a skip shift eliminator in there too. Unfortunately this will all have to wait a week before I can get it installed. Dinner with the family tonight, then leaving for Hiawassee early in the morning, will be gone for the weekend.
Good to see another follow up on this beautiful Yellow Corvette. Love the new items and WOW on what was up around that radiator surprised it was cooling at all
I’ll post a full before and after with the lights. The stock fogs are basically candles and the stock headlights aren’t much better. With all the deer, turkeys, raccoons and other things around here, lights are critical to night driving. I can’t wait to turn night into day!
We got home yesterday a little after 2pm and I decided to get in the garage and tackle the lights. I spent quite a bit of time at it, doing the LED fogs first and then the main headlights. I didn't get any before pictures, but they were pretty much like everyone else's - pathetic. Here are some shots after I installed everything. This is NOT adjusted at all, just ran out of steam about 8pm last night. The projectors are definitely aimed too low, and I've got issues with the fog alignment too. I may try to get into the garage again this evening and see what I can get done.
Here's what the new LED fog bulbs look like next to the factory pathetic bulbs, and a shot of how they light things up. Right now they are not centered in the openings and the passenger side is too high. I'll get a better pic once I can get them adjusted properly.
On to the main event, Radioflyer's Bi-Xenon headlight kit installed! These are the low beam HID projectors. These are also not aligned properly yet, definitely aimed too low. But a quick drive confirmed they are a world better than the stock lights. I can actually see to the sides now and hopefully spot the deer before they jump!

LED mains, WOW what a difference. I installed the lights and the Hi-4 harness, so the HID lows and the LED mains are all 4 on at the same time. This is a hilly area, so the distance isn't too far out, but the total amount I can see now is a huge difference from before. Love this upgrade, and it will only get better once I get everything aligned.
