I learned a long time ago, people are going to do what people are going to do and the only person that seemed to get upset was me. So it's best to just let it go and move on, I'm not going to change any one with my frustration and life is just to short to go around pissed all of the time. Seems to work ok for now (untill I have no more room to push it down and one day I explode) lol
1. Someone didn't like that you felt the need to park all the way out there in your fancy car. Maybe they think you must be snooty or better than others so they park next to you being funny or a jerk.
2. They too appreciate their car and know that there is no way a nice car like yours would cause THEM door dings so they park with you in solidarity.
3. Ok maybe there is a third reason, people are just oblivious and really don't think at all.
I don't know but last I looked parking in an empty spot wasn't against any laws. Because you drive a "special" car you have the right to all adjacent parking spots to yours? As the title states; "Really?"
All these complaining posts as if these offensive "parkers" are infringing on your right to the entire lot. Come on folks. All this complaining about a whole family piling out next to your car. Did anybody or anything touch it? How about the rest of the complainers? The mini vans are the ones who should be worried. We're the ones with the big *** wide swinging doors. Owning and driving a Corvette doesn't entitle us to anything more or less than the rest of the population. Or does it.
Some might think its smart to seek out the specialty cars to park next to. At least one side of their car will be safe. Ever think they are seeking the same safety you are. But then no one else can love, respect and care for their car as much as we can ours.
Never said we have the right to the entire lot, but when we park as far from the entrance as possible and there are dozens of spots closer, we expect some common courtesy.
I bought my truck new in '03. I park it anywhere. Now after 15 years, there are so many door dings it is unbelievable. People really don't have any consideration for others. My C5 has no door dings, because I park it away from other cars.

I have noticed (in my own garage) that the corvette doors are very resistant to dings as compared to metal doors.
Lazy to not straighten out the wheel? Never thought of that, my truck is pretty long and in narrow parking lots I will often leave my wheels turned as long as I'm in the middle and straight. Not sure it makes me lazy
I'll admit it's my own hangup, and if you're in there straight it's not that big a deal. But most of the time I just see these cars peeled into a space at a wild angle, wheels turned hard over, pinching someone in, and I see them coming out of that space with the same lack of care, whacking someone's car. It has happened to me before.
FWIW I wasn't angry about it. Yes everyone has a right to every spot in the lot. However this was an Ingles grocery store. 99% of the folks are trying to park as close to the entrance as possible, planning on bringing out lots of groceries. So unless this person in a nondescript Ford somethingorother was interested in my car (possible), the logic of "why" just escapes me?
Most do it for spite.
They resent you have a car list this and want to annoy the P*SS out of you.
If they bang into your door, front or rear fenders, so be it.

Just because one car is a Vette doesn't give it special privileges or a parking space no one can park next to, even if that space is quite a distance from a business and there are plenty of othere empty spots in that area. And the common courtesy is that the other vehicle parked between the lines and did not do any damage while it was parked there.
Can it be a little frustrating when someone parks next to you when you have tried to avoid all the other cars - sure. But not much you can do to prevent them from choosing any spot in the parking lot to park their car.

^^^This! I've made eye contact with people who have gone out of their way to park far away next to my corvette. They are NOT the happy go lucky people. These are miserable, pathetic types, that are filled with anger and jealousy. Good thing these are a minority instead of the majority, so we can deal with these morons once in a while...

"we expect some common courtesy"? Whom are you speaking for, the entire Corvette community? Sounds like it. Also sounds like an entitled attitude. If I park my car at a distant spot it's not a signal to others. "Stay away! Cool car parked here. I've claimed this spot and expect you to do the right thing and park elsewhere." Buy a Corvette and brag about all the attention then **** and moan when it's not on your terms. I'm out.
I'd still take my chances parking way out in the boonies over parking close to the building, as there are way more people looking to park as close as possible vs parking far away...
I think a lot of people are just oblivious. Case in point, you walk into a restroom with 10 urinals along the wall and belly up to one of them. The rest of them are unoccupied. Then some dude walks in and bellies up right next to you!! Why, oh why????? Or, you go into the locker room at the health club and grab a locker to throw your stuff in. The place is empty and some tool comes in and grabs a locker right next to you. WTF??? I think the same thing often occurs with your car. Obviously, other cars have every right to park next to you, but it is obvious when you park that far away, you prefer to not have other cars park next to you. I respect others for that, just an unwritten man law if you ask me.

Sounds like you are the one with the attitude. It really has nothing to do with Corvettes. If you park any car out in the boonies to avoid door dings you expect some common courtesy. You don't expect some knucklehead to park next to you just because he can..
