I really like this forum. Peckerheads are abundant everywhere. Just keep cool and read.
There's a lot of knowledge here and I use it to my advantage.
Except I don't use nitrogen in my tires.

I've told people , No such thing as a dumb question, but, be prepared for many dumb answers not giving you an answer to the question you asked.

Well, here is my .02 cents worth. I’m one of those “newbies” and I’m also not a “wrench guy”. I have always wanted a Corvette and now at the ripe old age of 72 I have my dream car. I have changed the battery already, but the closest I’ll ever come to working on the vette will be to check the oil and washer fluid levels. That said, when I see some of the responses to questions by us “newbies” I feel like I can’t ask a “dumb” question for fear of starting a turf war or getting slammed for not using the “search”. Sometimes we just want our question answered and not have to sift through a lot of threads that may or may not pertain to my question/problem. I have been a member of motorcycle forums where they beat up each other for the smallest thing (two wheels, trikes, car tires) and it is not a welcoming environment for new members. I know there are usually only a few who may set a bad example on this or any forum so please don’t think their responses constitute the vast majority of the other great members. So I guess what I’m saying is be nice to us “newbies” and show some patience with us, we will get better and hopefully become productive contributing members of this wonderful forum.

I'm sorry, that's a little harsh. some people like a one on one rather than a search, more so if the question is detailed. As stated, skip the post if you don't like it. See your a Senior Member, me a Newbe to this forum and the Vette world. Please have some understanding for us. I too on this forum every day.

I hate it when people put threads in the wrong forums. Why didn’t you use the search option to realize this should be in off topic? If it’s relivent to someone’s issue I don’t care how old it is if it helps someone. A lot can be learned from old threads.

If you're not using nitrogen let us know what's in your tires since nitrogen makes up 78.08% of what's coming out of a regular compressor.

Your welcome!

Helpful hint I received a few years ago. Type what your searching for into google and then put :corvetteforum.com at the end. Note the colon. I get a lot more specific threads with the search criteria I'm looking for.

I can understand to a large degree why people would say “search.”

Most everything under the sun has been covered in some form. A good search will likely yield the results you need, and like was pointed out above one thing I do is actually use Google to search the forum; if I type what I’m looking for and then “corvetteforum” at the end I’m likelu going to get many hits from here on Google.

Re: posting in old threads, this is actually ideal. The reason is instead of posting new threads that contribute to clutter (and thus going off above create more search results when searching) posting in a previous thread lowers search results. Think of all the threads that exist re: column lock when we have a stickie that covers EVERYTHING.

The forum gets clogged by useless threads asking about this, or that. After DECADES of use, forums like this get quite hard to navigate for people looking for quality information. All the threads that had the good, original technical data fall to the bottom of the search list, and the people that put the time and effort into that thing, usually don't come back to hash it out with randoms forever.

So what you get is a search function that requires you to tab browse a dozen threads to find the good information about what you want, or are looking into, because half of them are bullshit.

That blows. The etiquette is the way it is for GOOD reasons, as people's adherence to it makes everyones lives easier.

This particular branch of the Corvette world has had somewhat of an awakening as of late, which is causing some growing pains. Now that the base price for a C5 has come down to a reasonable range that people from all walks of life can enjoy, you start seeing all manner of NEW enthusiasts in the community, and the general sentiment changes. This is a pretty old internet community. Many members here have over 15 years of ACTIVE membership, and even more so in the older generations. This place is kind of unique in that way, and we're maybe a little grouchy, but everyone I've ever dealt with, or had a disagreement with here, are all reasonable people, and we get along about most things, and it never really gets in the way of enjoying the forum. And THAT is saying a lot, because my car traditionally ruffles a lot of feathers here That is kind of hard to find in the generation of the internet troll

This is an excellent free source for the highest quality information available, on EVERYTHING Corvette related, from show cars, to race cars. Everyone here is an enthusiast, so we all have at least something in common. That is really what people have to remember I think the most; we all have this wonderful thing in common. That being said, passion comes with a little fire, so don't be insulted by whatever is offending you, they're likely not trying to insult you (might steer clear of the off-topic section though ) People tell you the truth here. It's their choice to render their opinion, it's your choice to be offended by it.

Well I have to chime in and say that although I've had my C5 only about 7 months, I've utilized this forum numerous times. I knew virtually nothing about the C5 although I owned a "66 for 31 years. The responses I received have been cordial, extremely informative, congenial and invaluable. Some of my questions were, so to speak, really
basic. Even so I was answered respectfully and promptly. This forum, to me is a source of very valuable counselling, information, and simple great camaraderie for Corvette enthusiasts. All questions should be considered and answered respectfully by those that possess the infinite knowledge required to keep and maintain a C5 Corvette...
