Quick Friday Rant
Scenario 1
1. A newbie asks a question.
2. Some self righteous *** makes the comment 'use the search function'
Scenario 2
1. Newbie uses search function and comments.
2. Some self righteous *** makes the comment 'way to resurrect a 10 year old thread'!
There is little doubt that virtually every scenario has been discussed in this forum in one post or another. I don't see the need to snark down a newbie who just signs up because he has a problem with his oil pressure gauge. I think we can all be honest and say the 'search function' on the forum is fair at best anyway.
Happy Friday
Its usually about 30 minutes later that the forum admin's tell me not to interfere with their post...

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
I am or have been a moderator of several of them.
I almost went to work for one of them full time at one point, before the owner decided to sell the company/forum to Internet Brands.
This is the ONLY forum that gets so damn awfully bent out of shape about bringing up an old thread, and for the life of me, I can't understand why. Some of these cars are 22 years old for cripes sake. Guess what, there is old info that is relevant. Unless you are bringing up an old thread from 1999 to find out if BillyBob still has his exhaust tips available, it's not a big deal.
I think the reason is because of how "involved" the advertisers are in the content of the forum, and bringing up an old thread steps on too many toes where old/other/competitive advertisers are mentioned.
There might be a 27 page thread from 2008 on (totally made up example) on replacing the oil pressure sender on an LS1. Now there are also probably 250 OTHER threads on the same topic since 2008. But if a brand new tool comes out that makes the job easier as in you don't have to pull the intake or drill a hole in the wiper cowling...
...I feel as though it's right to update the original and best thread that will likely get the most views from the forum members' perspective vs. starting a new thread that will get buried in with the other (now) '251 threads on the same topic'.
When I need info, and I use the search tool, or Google search focused on the CF/C5 forum...
....I don't want to read 252 different threads. I want to read ONE with the most info.
Also relevant:
For those of us that have metered internet like Cell or Satellite users...
...it's costs us money and time to D/L and view all of those 253 different threads.
(Yes, I increased my math on purpose to prove a point.)
And BTW, it's Happy Hour on the East Coast. It's been a long week, and my motto for this weekend is "You can't drink all day if you don't start in the morning.
Cheers!
