I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. Certainly it's possible for really hands-on DIY folks to build their own for less material cost, but that time has value as well and for most offsets the money saved. I've had multiple customers spend more on inferior options trying NOT to purchase our headlights....only to buy them anyway. That being said, there are some that simply enjoy building custom stuff from scratch and have the time and money to do it. (I envy those with such options)
Note: the ebay chinese projectors have MULTIPLE issues that make them unsuited for a retrofit including:
- poor lens/housing seal resulting in severe moisture penetration
- poor quality lens optics result in low beam distortion (even with a high quality projector)
- fragile housing + glued-on projectors make removing the old projectors without damaging the housing nearly impossible. (even with special tools, I damaged several sets beyond repair before I gave up on them)
- extremely fragile mounting points prone to crumbling upon installation.
In my heart of hearts, what I really want is your fixed SLC headlights. I'm pretty sure my wife will leave me if I spend $1200 on headlights though. At least I would be able to see at night really well while I'm driving to my parents' house to stay because she kicked me out. lol

I had to get permission from my wife to finally order the SLC from RadioFlyer 2 weeks ago - she never liked the "frog" style Depo housings from Ebay.

Have you tried the safety angle? You can't drive safely if you can't see that well.

If I wanted to try an angle, probably the best one would be, "This would keep me from upgrading to a C6 for at least a few more years." since the C5 is paid off. She prefers the look of the C6's by far though, so that might backfire...or greenlight me getting a C6. Probably just neither.

Hey, this one is better than my ex wife. At least I can have a sports car and buy little stuff for it without raising her ire. The ex would basically interrogate me every time I got a package delivered. Probably worried about how many shoes that money I spent would have bought her.
Do you have a photo of the beam pattern by chance?
not for the next few weeks at best - car's getting some engine / trans work did

maybe it's PTSD, but that sounds all too familiar!!
the current wife is AWESOME & loves when i make the car better.
While I’m not an expert on lighting, I am an expert on marriage to a wonderful woman. When I was showing obsessive interest in finally getting a hot car after 50 years of watching others, and constant viewing of Mecum, but defaulting to practical cars/trucks for the family, she said ‘why don’t you finally get something for yourself?” .
So here I am. I got a C5Z, foolishly sold it for a SRT8 Challenger, got smart again and sold that for my current C5. I never spent big money on anything unless we discussed it first since she’s the comptroller of our family finances(much better than me at that). I recently had an epiphany that I do not want a C6 or C7, which made her very happy. For me it’s more fun this way. So I’m going to improve the lighting. How at this point? Not sure. I’m an obsessed DIY’r, but Maybe George might have a sale for some of us loyal customers/fans?
No one has an opinion on these? I don't want to buy these just to have the HIDs blink out on me after a month, or have the light pattern be crap.
Ebay projector headlight pattern (no modifications using 55w HID 4300K bulb) distance ~18 feet Radioflyer projector headlight pattern (same distance using 5000K HID bulb)
