Audio Upgrade Question?
If you're only interested in having an Aux input jack, then there's no need to replace the OEM headunit because that can be added to it. You can do this via DIY for just $3 (actually the jack is on sale now for $1.25 here) following this step-by-step write-up, or by sending the OEM headunit to one of the available vendors that provide this service.
Finally, to cover all viable options, a Single-DIN upgrade is possible as well. You would need an adapter plate to secure the new unit in place and provide a nice finish.
Here is an adapter plate that matches the interior very well. It has the word "Corvette" engraved in it that can be set up with backlighting (or you can customize the lettering).
From their website:
The lettering can be above or below the head unit opening, there is also a non illuminated version with the head unit located in the center of the mount.
The main lettering illumination available in red, blue, green, yellow, white LED’s and also red mini lamp illumination.
Custom lettering and design is available.

I have a C5 vert and did some work to the Bose system and I was not ever satisfied, so I had a compleat Alpine system installed. Head unit,4 channel amp, component speakers in the front, 2 ways in the rear and a small sub that is amped.Ipod and satilight as well. This was installed by a audio shop and the install is seamless. It plays as loud and clean. This has been in for 10 years with no issues.Ii also got a Bluetooth reciever that clips onto the visor.
