Once you get it and try it out let us know how well it , holds the phone and stays in place...If it will work I'll pick one up as well.
After reading these posts I bought a Cellnet phone holder. It fits great in my aftermarket double cup holder and holds the phone securely. I have a double din Kenwood head unit so I really only need a phone holder to keep the phone from sliding around. It doesn’t work in the stock shallow cup holder.
I bought the expanding "Macally Car Cell Phone Cup Holder Mount". I've read where some have had success with it. I know it will fit in my Aftermarket Trans Tunnel Dual holder but I would like to try it in the CRAPPY OEM spot. How do I remove the lid (I don't have a spring) without snapping the hinge pins / points? Looks like it 'should' pop right out but I know myself and I'm sure I'll break it if I try too hard. Anyone know a slick way to de-lid the dang thing?
Thanks in advance

JS the pins that constitute the hinge of the lid are a ‘pin within a pin’ like the various push pins that hold certain plastic bits in place. IF installed properly you should see a small cylindrical head in the inside of the tabs that go from the lid into the opening. For those familiar with screws, it looks like a filister head without a slot. It’s no more than 1/8” in diameter. It should be ‘resting’ on a flange that is slightly wider. That ‘flange’ is actually the outer ‘pin’ that goes thru the tab and the side of the cupholder. Gently pry the Filister head thing (which is actually a plug like expander) out so you can grab it with a needle nose plier. The next part will no longer have tension on it so you can pry that out too. Once out the cover should lift right out.
NOW, if the pins were installed in the opposite direction, you have to remove the radio bezel to get at them properly.

ChasBoy - Your directions were on the money! Came right out - nothing broke & I did not bleed! (both unusual for me). However, the expanding holder won't work in the not-quite-round and very shallow opening. Sux because it is a real solid, well made phone holder. Maybe when I do my DoubleDin install I can mod that hole with something round and a little deeper.
Oh, Well.... Back to the drawing board.
Thanks for the EXCELLENT help.
I finally got to uncover my car today and tried the Cellet phone holder. It works fine, and is very secure. I removed the rubber ‘base’ from the cupholder so maybe that helped. I see no issues with it at this point
I have the Metra console bezel to accommodate a double din Kenwood. It has a cupholder that has no cover, but does have some rubber supports to help secure a cup. Has anybody found a phone holder that works well with this setup?
