OK I admit it, the a$$ end of the C8 makes me freakin' dizzy, OK I will probably get used to it.
Hell I will admit I didn't even look at the C5 when it came out.
But...my lowered '99 Pewter 'vert tonight top-down under the streetlights tonight was sublime. My buddy just got a creampuff stock Silver C6 coupe, nice.. but mine was the looker.
Last cars & coffee...probably 8 C7's each with more sharp angles and sinkdrains and designations than the last, honestly I almost got tired of looking at them. Now we got a C8..

The good news is you don't have to look at the back end of the car while your driving it. The bad news is you will have to look at that dumb steering wheel.
The Corvette has to evolve if it is going to be competitive. This new platform will appeal to younger buyers thereby keeping the marque alive into the future. I think Chevy nailed it. It looks good and it will have a following. It will take some getting used to by us old school guys but we’ll get there.
What I don't understand is A) what appears to be GM Styling's current fascination with that "faux eggcrate" pattern that appears on the grill areas of new Camaros, Silverados, and now the C-8; and B) GM Styling's fascination with added-on, black "slashing" on the sides of C-7s, and now the C-8s. Looks like it's something from a JC Whitney catalog.

C5 of Year Winner (performance mods) 2019
for the most part I like it a lot, so much that I might consider parting mine out to get one in a few years lol... of course it depends on some other things as well but the thought is in my head, pretty much the same as when I made up my mind to get rid of my trans am to get a c5z... the c6 and c7 never gave me that feeling... losing a manual will suck though, that will be the hardest part for me to get over
I don't love it and I don't hate it....or should I say I love it and I hate it...
I would definitely like to have one, but I don't think GM went far enough with the design. I think the car could have been much lower and sleeker. Not even close to the Ford GT in appearance. I'm sure it has plenty of performance in power and handling for any street use, so that's not an issue for me. Not sure how it will do on race tracks??? Unfortunately I hate the price, but that's my problem....lucky you if you can afford that much for a toy. I'm also more interested in having a clutch. I wish they had something like this in the mid 80s when I was buying new Corvettes....
First Corvette since the C5 that has made me look at my finances. It's a modern platform, and I like the looks from every angle except the rear, which is still a little fussy to me. But then the rear view of a C5 is not that great either. I always got the feeling that the stylists kind of gave up at the rear, rather than dealing with the fact that the rear is what most drivers will see, so we got a big expanse of plastic with tacky looking vents either side. The C7 I really never liked from almost any angle - I still don't. I love the engineering, but not the looks.
As to the stick shift, no biggy. Our "other" car has a paddle shifted 8 speed, but the reality is the programming is so good that the paddles are not really necessary, and I confess after a lifetime of MT cars, I really like the job they did on it.
I appreciate your the forward thinking honesty of your post. Seems that complaining about the Corvette design generation to generation is a critical part of our culture. I can’t afford to spend that kind of money on a car anyway so my opinion is moot. The real question for C5 guys should be - Does it have a functional cup holder????
