While I agree there should still be a full manual option available, this is not an Automatic in the traditional sense of the word.
Paddle shifters are automatics, no matter what explanation anybody comes up with. That's like saying the old Pontiac "His and Her" shifter was not an automatic. And yes, I know Lambos haven't had them since 1999 or something like that. It's just not a vette without a third pedal. Yes I'm old and grumpy..
The only Corvette I'm moving to after my C5 is a C2. I'm afraid I'm just not a fan of the euro-exotic design direction the Corvette has steered toward. If they end up designing a throw-back retro style Vette, I'd be willing to give it more than a passing glance.
I humbly apologize to all who love the new C8, and may have taken offense, it is not my intention to disparage your tastes; it's just that I'm one of the (very) few who aren't drawn to that design/style. I do hope this new iteration keeps Corvette strong and viable for the future.
I here ya there! I'd rather spend that money on a nice c1 or c2. They don't make those anymore. I've never been a person that's had to have the newest one out there. In fact it took me a few years to warm up to the c5. Now that I'm on my fourth one (in between other model years) I kind of like them.

So by your way of thinking there were no Corvettes in 53-55. Very interesting.

I'm not crazy about the styling either. Way too many "black" areas on the front end and rear end...reminds me of the latest Honda Civic (which I also don't like)...IMO, the C5 is still the nicest looking Vette...

That's not even close to what I said. Hell, I've had two of them with powerglides. Six with automatics. I'd never go back. It's to much fun going through the gears. I don't care if an auto is faster. It's not as fun and enjoyable. That's the reason I own these cars. For fun and enjoyment. Having an automatic takes that fun down a notch.

I actually know someone that lemon lawed a C7 Z07 I think it was. Not even sure if he was a member here but it wouldn't surprise me.
Aside from that, I think the C6Z it going to be the king of the hill in Corvette world for a very long time. Especially for those that use, abuse, and modify their cars for serious performance.
I think of all the Corvettes the C8 is going to be the slowest to be littered with performance mods.
I've struggled with a buy decision after my C5Z. I came VERY close to finally buying a C7GS, to add to my C5, but again I felt it wouldn't be enough of a departure to keep me driving my C5Z enough. A properly modded and balanced C5Z will still do work against most C6/C7's, on a road course, shy of the upper echelon models like ZR1. Even then, a C5 will still get it done.
Looking at the C8, I think it'd present enough of a departure and contrast, that driving the C5Z could remain a unique, and more analog experience. With engine position change, manual vs DCT, raw vs much more refined, I think the two could complement each other in a way I'd still utilize both.
I'm entertaining it, but it won't be a first year car. I'm waiting until 2nd model yr.
