Aren't the C7 and C6 both based on the C5 platform?

Buying any car sight-unseen is a bold move.

We only know what it looks like and what the marketing department wants us to know.

Not without major fabrication/customization. Lol. I don't think many parts from a stingray are an easy swap on any C5. Not saying it isn't possible, but way more trouble than it's worth.

I think I'm officially old. I see the C8 and to some degree the C7 and I just don't like them. Yes I know the technology and performance is WAY above a C5. But they seem to be departing from the C2,C3,C4,C5,C6 recipe of V8, manual trans, rear wheel drive, and curves.

I am in process of buying a C5 Z06 and even though I could have gone the C6 or C7 route... the C5 and earlier versions just seem to match my thoughts about what a vette is.
I was torn mostly between a C3 or a C5. The C5 Z06 though just already has all the things I'd want to do to a C3. (except styling rear of the rear doors. IMO it's like they let the engineers rule rear end styling due to aero)
And I'm that one nut job who actually likes pop up headlights.

I'm with you on this. The C6 is actually the last version with nice looks IMO, though I still like the looks of the C5 better. The C7 to me just has too many sharp angles, and the C8 doesn't even look like a Vette to me...it looks more like a Ferrari or some other exotic. I much prefer the curvy, sexy looks of the C5 over the newer, more radical looks of the 7 and 8...

I somewhat agree, but what direction do you go from the C7?
Used low mileage near mint specimens of front engine Vetts will be available for a long time.

I do think it's doesn't look like a Vette (take off the badging) , more on the Lambo look, I will go to my grave thinking the round tail lights always told you it was a Vette !!!!!!!!!!!!

The C8 hits me in the face as one of those ugly body kits that everyone stuck on an old VW beetle platform in the 70's and 80's. It's definitely not my cup of tea. I'll be waiting to hear how everyone adapts to having the engine behind them and all the special annoyances it creates in daily driving.

Here is a Ferarrari 448 Spider About $400,000

Same Ferarrari from the rear.

There goes the neighborhood!

How about all those people that paid north of $300 for a Ferrari 458?

What about the Acura NSX that was priced completely out of it's customers base's price-range?

The Lamborghini Hurican comes to mind. Not a bad car but perhaps, with the Vette costing under $60,000.

Did you know that most of the above cars require that you pull the engine to do regular maintenance. Not the C8 Vette!

That's a joke people, calm down.
Theres already a Supra recall for bad welds. I would never by first year, let the bugs work themselves out first

In terms of looks, it would be a move DOWN the ladder...

Echoing many thoughts expressed, I would be extremely tempted to move to a c8 if that had a manual version. That's probably not going to happen. Right now my plan is to add body enhancements like flared fenders, etc to my c5z.

I can understand the first year being as reliable as the rest of the 7th generation, but if it's the most reliable, it doesn't speak well of the generation.
