pretty much comparing an apple to a banana lol ....the c8 is an outstanding car. She will be mine one day .....oh yes, she will be mine.
and if history repeats itself there will be a whole bunch of them in 10 years with less than 25k miles on them.
I will also be curious to see what the views of the 2020 will be in 10 years as far as how it was in reliability and quality, or if it will carry on that stigma of never buy a first year car.
c8 is much more refinded, launches much better and hooks like a drag car, handles better etc.. it is heavier and does not have the big beef under the hood. the supercharged c5 z06 advantage is light weight, tons more power. it will not outhandle a c8 unless set up as a track car, wont out stop it unless set up as a track car. for the c5 to outperform a c8 it needs to be modified a lot.
Agree on most fronts, but ahhh - a C5Z could FOR SURE out stop a C8. That's just a matter of the right pad/disc/fluid/tire setup. But physics is physics - & the C5Z is a good deal lighter & can run rubber just as sticky & just as wide
C8's will need to climb a ladder to hang with well prepped C5/6/7's of various types. C8 in a straight line and from a dig...it's going to make easier work for the driver because the car is more automated vs analog/manual transmission cars, where driver skill is a big factor....especially on the street. Road course though, C8's capability is really yet to be seen. This cushy base model isn't showing much, but the car is clearly quick and will only get better with more tire, aero and spring rate. C8's a "better" car albeit far more expensive and won't be nearly as shadetree mechanic friendly as the C5-7's are.
