Saw on YouTube a clip of a 480hp C8 beating a 650hp caddy from a dog. What will it take to beat the new vwtte? I got a twin turbo c5 pushing about 550hp. Will that be enough.
Wonder what the weight difference is between the two. So many variables of course. I would think in your above example the Caddy would be quite a bit heavier with less tire on it.
Do not try to get him off the line. It will not be pretty. That is the single biggest advantage IMO the C8 has - and is why GM finally pulled the trigger on moving the powerplant to the rear.
C8 will take about any C5 from a dig. 495 hp right over the rear wheels is why, traction is the key. But, from a roll I think with the right HP and a C5 could take a C8.
The front engine, rear drive cars are going to be traction limited. C8 will own from a stop, but if the cars are already moving, it's purely HP, weight, and gearing.
The C8 traps 122mph in the 1/4 mile, so it's got some power. That's going to be your benchmark.
Bottom line; you'll need traction. Anything else is just a bonus.
Honestly, if you are on the street with street tires then I think the c8 wins. It simply puts its power to the ground very effectively. I have 500hp but getting traction is tough. Just my opinion
But to add to my previous post I do see c8s do about a low to mid 11 sec at the 1/4. You should take that pretty easy with a good tire.....so it will depend on the environment....

C8s are 490-495, not 480, and a Caddy is a MUCH heavier car that will take more power to move. C8s also have state of the art technology like advanced launch control and a transmission with as many gears as a mountain bike...there are many more factors to it than just hp. People can't figure out how to do a standing burnout in a C8 yet because of the launch control programming. The one video I watched, the girl had it tied down to a shipping container in order to do it...
If you can get traction and are an above average driver, it will be a good race with a stock C8. They'll get you from a dig more often than not, but you should be trapping higher than low 120s with 550whp. I'm assuming you meant whp...
