Thanks to everyone for all the prayers and well wishes! It is greatly appreciated. I love driving my Vette to rehab. I got really lucky that we had some warm weather shortly after I was cleared to drive again.

And stop me if you've heard this one...

A cardiac surgeon is picking up his Corvette from an engine repair shop...

As the shop owner's mechanic fetches the car, the owner gets to talking with the doctor and says, "You know, engine repair is a lot like open-heart surgery."

"How so?"

"Well, it's the 'heart' of the machine. It's got fuel injectors like veins, an oil pump like an aorta, and pistons that pump like heart muscle."

"I see."

"It wears and tears like a heart, but without it, the whole car fails, just like a body. If it's not repaired right, a whole lotta problems happen and the engine can seize up."

"That's true," concurs the doc as the Corvette's pulled up to him.

"So how come I only charge you $10,000 to fix your engine, while a hospital charges around $100,000 for heart surgery?" asks the owner as the doc gets in.

The doc closes the door and puts the window down. "Try fixing the engine while the car's still running,"

Thanks, I got a good laugh out of that one.
With that said, for 4 hours during my surgery, my heart was stopped, and my lungs were deflated. I had a heart/lung machine pumping oxygenated blood through my body. I was basically turned off for a while. The really sad thing is that if doctors didn't have to pay for malpractice insurance, and for people to fight with the insurance companies, medical care and car care would probably cost about the same.

Great point!

Glad I could give you a laugh. I'm sure a laugh or two are more than welcome at the moment.

Crazy when you think about the advancements in medical science as of today. It's truly fascinating.

Happy to know it all worked out! Now you can get back to enjoying life and putting up with us knuckleheads on the forum.

Glad to hear that you're recovering nicely. Wheat Belly, written by William Davis, M.D. may help prevent future cardiac problems. He's a cardiologist and has some interesting advice on diet and health.
Made a huge improvement in my health. HTH

Thanks for the recommendation. The surgery was for a valve problem I was born with that ended up getting worse. I was very lucky and got my surgery from the #1 heart surgeon in the US. I travelled from VA to the Cleveland Clinic for my surgery. I was given a copy of the book my surgeon wrote. It has a lot of really great info. Thankfully, I am otherwise very healthy. They were able to repair my Mitral valve. I also have a bicuspid Aortic valve. However, that valve is stable and working well, so they decided to leave it alone. My cardiac rehab is going well.
I'm glad you found a good resource to help with your heart health. This surgery is the hardest thing I've ever done. I hope you never need anything like it.

I've had my share, lost 22 inches of small intestine about 28 years ago. I figured it was stress, so I unloaded about 30% of my work load and never looked back.
Happy motoring.
