Yeah, they aren't cheap. But they are also a masterpiece compared to all the other junk out there. Plus by the time you add up the $60 here, $30 there and $60 here for the cheap ***** you've accumulated and didnt like...buying one good one really nice one isnt so expensive.
And some of us are really dumb about this car enthusiasts thing. We want what we want and we're fortunate enough to have disposable funds. Heck, I've blown more money in go-fast parts than most have into the entire purchase of their C5. The shift **** is barely a rounding error.
This is my mentality as well. To me a high quality shift **** on a high performance stick shift sports car that i paid tens of thousands $$$ for is worth it one time to pay for a premium **** product. I chose a stick shift for a reason, if a premium made shift **** enhances my experience of driving my weekend toy, Rock On !!!
If you want a weighted shift **** that actually has weight to it then buy a Raceseng product. I purchased their Signa-Ture weighted **** (no longer in production) and it's heavy as hell at 1.05lbs. It is great quality and very nicley finished.
Their Stratos **** with Alcantara wrap is really nice as well. And weighs 0.9 lbs. I may grab one of those soon myself.
I just ordered the Contour **** (1.1 lb) , the 1.8 inch Shift **** Extender and the Shift Boot Collar and got $51.00 discount with promo Code FREEDOM23. Total $204.00 + $7.95 shp
My brain tells me I wouldn't like the shape of the Ashiko in the palm of my hand. I could be wrong and would have to try one, but my initial thoughts are it's not for me and not worth $100 to confirm.
Yeah, these are fun. The Signa-Ture I purchased is weighted pollidged aluminum with a Delrin outer shell. So, it doesn't really need a sock on hot sunny days...as long as I don't palm the top after it's been parked in the sun with the targa off. But if it were not wrapped in Delrin one of those socks would be helpful.
MGW Race **** works perfectly fine for me. I don't know the weight but It's heavier than a stock one.
Their "Gripper ****" is said to be 0.5lbs (226 grams)
I've been curious about weighted ***** and how they impact driving. Then I see the price of them and realize I already have one between my legs I can handle whenever I want for free. Dum Dum Tshhhhh

I had a delrin on my MGW at first, then changed to one of the heavier ones from Raceseng, made a big difference, looks good as well.
I was skeptical when I first read a post a weighted ****, how could it make a difference on such a short lever that is fixed below it, but it does. They do get warm when hot out and you park your car in the sun.
Another vote for Raceng here. It’s one of the first things I did to my car when I got it. It did improve the shifting in my car. I actually have 2 of them now. No pics at the moment unfortunately.
edit: this is the one I have now, Nitro.
It’s not as big of a diameter as I would have hoped for and not quite as heavy as the one I had before, but it reminds me of the golf ball shifter I used to have in my GTI.
I have one from WC Lathe Works, they do loads of options but their heaviest comes in at 680g I believe. Very well made, I did find ordering and shipping a pain when I purchased it years ago (I'm in the UK) as the company was very poor at communication but the quality was spot on.
Just switched to a much lighter one interestingly enough and I think I prefer it tbh.

WC Lathe Work shifter **** are work of art I’ve one in my previous C6 ZR1 and love it, not cheap though
So I'm posting this as a somewhat humorous post and somewhat of a learning experience.
My son has a 70 dollar Tick shifter **** in his SS Camaro that is of the plastic variety. Not to trash Tick as I love Tick but this ball leaves a lot to be desired. The knurled threaded insert came loose within the first week creating a horrible buzzing noise all the time.
We took that as an opportunity to experiment!
The plastic ball stock weighs in right around 95 grams.
For the fun of it we dropped in a 230 grain 45 ACP projectile and a 55 grain 223 projectile into the hollow cavity and then proceeded to pump the ball full of flowable epoxy. This netted an additional 20 grams of weight give or take.
So the new total weight of it is 115 grams. It feels noticeably heavier and now the threaded insert is solid once again.
Interestingly enough 115 grams is exactly a 1/4 pound. It is mind boggling to me to think some of yall are running a 1lb shift **** lol.

Loving the creativity. I thought I was clever with the lead sinkers in my C6 ****. But I like the route you took. More of a fun story to tell. Lol!
I swapped my C6 **** back in today. I really like the C6 **** ergonomics. Didn't get the vette out though because I spent the entire day messing with my VMax that first had dead battery. Then was vapor locked. Then was gushing gas out of the bottoms of two of the 4 carbs. Nothing like bathing in gas and sitting on your *** on the garage floor when you could be out driving the vette on a beautiful Fall day. Bike is running and driving again. So not all wast lost.
Update : I have installed the Raceseng Countour ****, 1.8 in shifter extender and boot collar. Have not driven yet but will this Saturday to the Lake Mirror Classic car show in downtown Lakeland.
Here are some pics:
I just installed the slammer - loving it so far. The weight definitely takes some of the crunchiness of the gear change out with a shortened throw. Really nice finish and perfect size for me.
