Didn't find the Bay Area Corvette clubs to be that appealing when I was there.
Not a big social gatherer...
Before the C5, I bought a 944, and joined the PCA specifically to do the track stuff, 1996.
Dunno how they're doing overall as a club, but their track event attendance seems to have fallen slightly and migrated away from the competitive 'time trial' format, into just a straight HPDE.
Made up overwhelmingly of newer cup cars, other high dollar 911s, and Caymans. Generally well driven, but probably relying on their aids to keep them safe.
The age group seems to vary from early 30s up, with the common denominator being rich enough... It would be interesting to track the group, and see how many still come out to the track in 5 years.
Doubt anyone works on their own car. That's what the dealer is for!
I rather enjoy kicking their asses in my 'ancient' 944. I'm 68. One of the old folks there now...
36 and it gets driven here and there and washed/wiped down every week. I do take a big trip every year labor day weekend to go down to the NCM for the bash. Once my son can ride shotgun with me Ill drive it more.
I bought my first Corvette, a Red/White 64 coupe, in 1970 at age 17. Over the last 55yrs, I've owned 36 total, with the earliest being a 1955 and the newest was my 2002 C5Z.
Lots of C1's, C2's, C3's, C4's and two C5's have made life more enjoyable, for sure. The longest I've ever owned one was 5yrs and that was my highly modified 90 ZR-1.
I'll be 64 in November. Had the car since 2007. So that would mean I was 45 (and NOT 34) and change when I bought this Ape. 18 years and counting. Don't plan on getting rid of him ever. I'm very happy with a C5 and don't need anything newer. It would be nice, yes, but not a priority at this time. He just turned over 98,000 too. Been a great ride so far. No clubs for me either. Don't want to be tied to attending meetings or events if I can't or don't want to make them.

Reason: Age Discrepancy

Yes it is.....in a normal math situation. But when you're getting old, it's a different ball game. 🤔 😆 I'm going to use the excuse that my wife was talking to me and distracted me. 👍 The 3 is very close to the 4 and I fat fingered it. Yep, that's it. 👌
I'm 54 and on my 2nd C5. 1st C5 was taken out by a moose.
I wanted a C5 since they came out. Once the house was paid off and kids gone I could finally afford the time/money to own one. I saved up cash for the best condition, unmodified 6 speed rag top I could find (both times). I drive it fairly regularly (garage stored in winter), do lengthy road trips often and keep it as immaculate and stock/OEM as I can, within reason. It may not be perfect and the mileage is climbing but it is MY C5 and I enjoy it for what it is and has always been since GM built it. I also do all my own work which I think is part of the pride of ownership for such an "exotic" beast.
The C5 is my favourite Corvette and I have no intent to move to a different generation. I'm seriously considering adding a C3 to the stable...grew up with them and always liked them too.

I was 29 when I bought my '03 C5 new. I'm now 52 and still have her sitting next to the '23. The C5 is a lot of fun to drive especially since she's a 6 speed.
