Default VERY DISSAPPOINTED!

Ok, here's the story. Just got the 04 Z dyno'd with the following mods.
LG longtube headers.
Corsa Indy exhaust.
Hurricane CF intake
CF power duct
Hurst shifter
Other Cosmestics.

Only pulled 366rwhp and 359rwtq Now for spending all that money on longtube headers and install. Hurricane intake already on the car as was the power duct, I was certainly expecting more. I am dumping this puppy with 600 miles on it at the auction on Friday.
I am that dissatisfied. Dean

Power ducts on anything less than a 427 is a waste of money. No gain. The Corsas will also not generally provide a measurable gain. New airbox gain without tuning is probably not much at all. Do some tuning and you could see another 10 to 15 rwhp easy. You would then be maybe 380 and right where it belongs. Dynos also vary greatly.

Dude you motor has no miles. These things will really wake up after a few thousand on the clock. Drive it around hard then after a few grand take it back to a different dyno and see what happens.

Also, don't let 15 ponies get your panties in a wad this early, or ever. Think of it this way... if you "dump" it at auction you'll loose thousands and for that you could do a h/c too.

I did have it tuned this week. I just expected more. I bought this used with 100 miles on it and now only have about 45k in it with the mods and so on. It should do around that at the sale. If it doesn't, I will see if it wakes up and I will SC it.

you gained 15rwhp, really only the LT headers are a true gain in what you listed. you said you did an LS edit? every time I add a hp mod I do an edit to tune, will give you even more hp.

I agree with the guys here, your vette isn't even broken in

You mean you folks are buying long tuber headers, forced induction, and cat-backs to get RWHP gains? Heck, I'm putting 'em on just for the stone killer sound

I figure if I ever get serious about adding real power, an s/c is the only way to go. Those MTI guys do some awesome work.

btw, I was only at 371 rwhp with similar mods after tuning. I do have the stock cats though.

Those numbers are hard to believe. Mine dynoed at 368 with just a Halltech sidewinder and exhaust. No tuning or anything else. But I know from experience that these engines do wake up after a few thousand miles. I'm at a little over 5,000 now and I know my car is stronger than it was when dyno'ed at 3,000. Hang on to it. It will get better.

Just put some miles on it, it's not even broke in yet
After about 3-4,000 miles, add some AFR 205 heads and you'll be over 400 rwhp and look for a better tuner

I am sure the LG headers are the only real power adder on this vette, and maybe a better tuner would make a diff but I was running an 03 Cobra cpe with some bolt ons and I am telling you, it would have smoke this Z. Not looking for a debate but the Cobra was putting down 463rwhp and 532rwtq and it was insane compared to the Z. I mean seat of the pants perf. I am not loyal to any manufacturer. If I was I would be driving a srt10 viper as we are a Chry-Jeep dealer. I am just not impressed with the Z for the money I put in some bolt ons. Maybe I will have to wait and see if it wakes up and maybe go with a supercharger.

Where did you have it tuned? I'm about an hour north of you and am looking for a place to get mine done if I can locally. If not, I'll take it out to ECS and have Chris do it.

You can't compare a NA motor to a FI forged factory motor. The '03 Cobras and the TT Supras are the golden rule for easy cheap massive power. My Z06 gained about 40 rwhp over a stock '01 from intake, headers, exhaust.

Forgot to add. I bet if you wait another 2 or 3000 miles, you'll see another 15 or 20 horsepower. Six hundred miles is not enough.

Phoenix Performance Inc in Phoenixville did the tune. LS1 edit was done and if I am reading the sheet right, I only picked up 8 or so HP

I am sure some heads would make a diff. as well. The Z is quick out of the box but what is the drivetrain loss from the stock 405hp? As a %

The Z06 was not really intended for drag racing, although there are forum
members who can run high 11s in the quarter with the car completely stock.
Rather, it's a road course car with superior cornering/handling capability. It's
a very balanced car on a road course, and the chassis has been tuned
specifically for increased performance and control on a road course. If all you
want is straight line performance, then you're probably better off with a car
like the Cobra you already had, IMO.
