It will take some getting used to, but I still like the price.

But this could also be a wake up call for forum members to start to resize the picture that they post instead of post picture that are over a meg in size.

just my .02

Agreed on the lack of performance of the site. It's probably the database that's killing performance. Maybe they're using a DB designed for small databases (like MySQL), and it's made worse if the DB is on the same server as the Web server (or if it's using a shared DB server).

Me, too! The "revving up" doesn't add anything. We already have stars.

I must be getting old, but anymore, I hate change of any kind. I know I'll get used to this and probably, down the road, even admit that it's better. But for right now, I find it awkward and I feel like an outsider to a forum that always had me feeling like family. I guess time will tell...

Sorry Troy, but the new format SUX!!!! As others have pointed out, the constant scrolling back and forth, sluggish response time and just the plain uniqueness of the old forum format makes the new format inferior to the old. Just my $.02...my wife doesn't listen to me either.

And all along I thought the Corvette Action Center had older software. The new look is very similar to theirs so I guess they are not as far behind as I thought.

Strange that my signature is not coming up. It shows in my profile, but not on the forums.

Is there a way to turn off the incessant Hinting? (Pop-up windows with more information that appear when the mouse pointer hovers over an object.) Browsing the list of threads, there are Hints on everything, and they're usually large enough to obscure what I'm trying to see. It's like an insect constantly buzzing about the screen, getting in the way.

The colors and buttons and other adjustments are no big deal, but the Hints are obnoxious.

It's YOUR ultra-large sig pic that is causing all the scrolling for everyone on the first page of this thread.

Just resize. Folks are reluctant to change....it'll just take some getting used to.

A simple announcement would have been a worthwhile courtesy. My suspicion is that the change from ZeroForum to vBulletin was prompted by licensing issues. Personally, I think this is a very sad day for CorvetteForum. The CorvetteForum web site used to be the nicest forum based group on the internet in my opinion. The old site would resize text windows, the colors (bluish) weren't fatiguing on the eyes, etc. etc. The new site looks just like every other vBulletin site on the internet. Pretty lame for a Corvette site to have the same carnival look as the F-Body site.

Gripes:
-- The overuse of the color red. This is absolutely hideous!. More templates need to be installed!.

-- The display of user nics should be truncated. Uselessly long nics like – 'myredvetteisfast2002withM6anditsavert' causes the actual post text to be pushed too far to the right.

-- Minimal 'smiley' list. Current list should be severely augmented.

-- 'Location' should be displayed under the avatar.

-- If vBulletin can't handle pic resizing then sig pics should be disallowed. (Post a bloody link we know what Corvettes look like and for the love of God if I really cared about the weather in PoDunk I'd go to weather.com).

-- Performance stinks.

Ahhhh. Now that I've vented I would like to point out that I'm sure given time that the new site will improve and that we should be supportive of our sponsors and our moderators.

I'm waaayyyy overdue for a smoke .. Later.

Mark

I would have never launched this new format with a heads-up and lots of testing. It is clearly worse than the other format. I had to make many changes to my browser to get it to display correctly. The scrolling will drive some people away.

Also my Private Messages are gone. I see only very old ones and no current ones.

How do I get rid of "dropping the clutch" when I hvae an A4??? :o
