Default New Forum Format

I have a question. The new format on the forum is O.K., but now when I view a post, I have to use the slider at the bottom of the screen to see the entire left to right thread. This is not a problem on the list on threads, or even on this page as I type. However, when I read a post the view is too large. Anyone else having this problem and does anyone know how to fix this?

O.K. I just viewed this post after I submitted it and I can view it with no problems. I went back to the post that caused my confusion and it is still too wide for my screen (http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...tid=1547753483). Apparently, it must depend on the individual thread or post that you are viewing????

the new software does not does not automatically resize the pictures like the old software did. It posts the picture in ALL it's size and glory.

I am sure once it is used more it will be easier. But initial thoughts are it is to complicated and to busy looking. The other format was much simpler and easier on the eyes. And I also liked being able to see members cars along with their threads.

And why do i keep getting redirected to the C5 forums, everytime i click on the C4 Forum links, and the main menu on the left side, keeps saying C5 Tech C5 Genreal Discussion..Etc.....Is it me, or are the links messed up? IE I go to www.corvetteforum.com...The left hand Menu says C4 Tech, C4 General, I click the Link and it goes to C5 Tech, C5 general...Etc.....

And this having to go left to right 500 times just to read a post is nuts.

I think part of the problem is the sig pics...if a sig pic is huge, then it displays the whole picture (the old forum software resized the picture automatically), thus making the window huge...well, since the window is now huge, the text thinks it can go that far so it does, hence your need to scroll over to read all the text....

This is a little weird, I couldn't even figure out how to log in!!! It took me 3 tries before I figured out I had to change my ZeroForm login or something like that! So far, not as quick and easy as the old one!!! I'm sure it's in its infancy but you can't even see all of the Smilies like you used to, just a few to the right here. I am sure if we are patient things will get better when they tweak it!

As a webmaster....this format is not so good. The fit and finish is poor, the effect to the eye is harsh. The area between the vendors and the actual message board looks horrible (the inset of the message board). There are resize problems. You also cant see where a member is from under his avatar, which helps in locating help, or buying used parts. Positive things: new threads bolded; but I would put it back to the old style with just improvements to that. You had a signature feel to the forum and now its lost.

VBulletin is far better than the previous forum. There are thousands of mods for the CF people to install for us. Give them a chance to tweak it, and continue to provide constructive criticism on how to make it better, and I'm sure that they'll get it worked out. To me, this looks like a vanilla, basic install of VB, so give them a chance to first, get it working, and then add mods to make the user experience more friendly.

Two of the best vBulletin features is "View First Unread" so you can go right to the point in the thread where you left off the last time. It's at the top left of a thread or there's an icon in the forum listing next to the thread that takes you directly to where you left off. And, secondly, "View New Posts" since your last visit. (I haven't looked for that one yet, but it's in VB!)

THANKS CF for vBulletin!

At first I thought I was on ls1tech. Too much scrolling. PM system is more complicated than it needs to be. It will take some time, but I suspect that it will get better. I wonder what prompted the change? the previous forum software seemed to work very well.

I agree...Give it time...this is the first day we've all gotten to experience it... I will say I do like the quick reply option...Makes it alot easier than having to open a new window to replay to a thread
