If you are doing a replica then you need the wing. There are plenty of replicas out there that don't have EVERYTHING from the original car (i.e. motor, trans ect.). I don't think it would like rice at all. It would look like a C5R As for the comment about resale, you don't buy a car with the thought of resale. No matter what after market part you instal on your car it limits the people interested in buying it. Just do it how you want it. If it is a replica then it need the right wing. Not something bigger or smaller. Kaley
So I think what I plan on doing is to finish the car without the wing. This is due to the wing, I have, weighing too much and the fact it is a 2001 C5-R wing and does not match the 2003 wing. After all I'm modeling the 2003 version. So I guess I'll have the wing up for sale and I'll have to start looking into a matching 2003 wing. Any ideas? Are they for sale or should I just make one out of stainless steal or some other strong sheet metal? I know where to buy a real one... but for $23,000 grand I think I'll do with out a real carbon fiber C5R wing.
A funny thing that I remember reading on the net is the Subaru STi guy who once got a ticket for his stock wing. I'm sure that he got it thrown out, but that should give you an idea of what's legal or what would attract unwanted attention.
That's just sad. Officers these days. Geesh
I was able to grab a ton of detail shots of the C5-R wing this past weekend at Sears Point. Looks like I'm back to the drawing table. Only this time I'm going to make my wing out of alluminum. Should be lighter then fiberglass. That and I'm going to make it attached to the frame. So this should be fun!
