Default Which tires?

Hi all,
just wondering what is the largest tire I want to use on the stock '98 rims (rear). I also am wondering what tire is the best for all around tread life, performance (wet/dry only), and reduction in noise from the stock run-flats? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks again!

295 in the rear 275 up front i forget the height but going this route makes the car handle a lot better.

I was told by a tire shop that the 295/275 combo is too wide for stock rims, and will pinch at the bead, possibly causing premature wear on the center of the tire. On his recommendation, I went 285/255.

I highly recommend the Goodyear GS D3s - fantastic traction (dry AND wet), much smoother ride, and very quiet. These tires come highly recommended by the Tirerack sales staff, are made in the USA, and are significantly less expensive than Michelins at no sacrifice in performance. I enjoy mine every day!

Hib Halverson recently wrote an interesting article on the C5 Goodyears. You want to read it prior to making a decision.

No, they are not runflats, but are 26 lbs lighter - hence, the incredible ride compared to runflats.

Irecently put a set of 4 Firestone Firehawk's on our 98 C5. I posted the same question here and got good reviews on the Firestone's. I was leary of the Firestones as I have never cared for that brand but I have to say I am very pleased with the performance, ride and noise. They are much quieter that the Goodyears. Our's are the run flats.

Consider the Goodyear GS-D3's or Michelin Pilot Sports.

well you got bad info, many of us run 295/275 on the stock rims no problem at all

I choose the F1 tires
