Default Caught Speeding.

Friday night I was rushing to get to an 8PM appointment and sure enough got pulled over by a LEO. He asked me if I knew I was speeding and I told him I really thought I was going to get my first ticket in town in either my new (to me) '02 Vette or my Harley and not my beater '99 F150 he just smiled and took my license and insurance card. Ten minutes later he came back with a warning ticket.

I got caught a few weeks ago, it was 9 am on a sat taking a friend back to the airport. The express way becomes local and the exit ramp i needed was closed so i switched lanes and sure enough a cop on a bike was lurking under a ramp. He got be for 76 in a 55. Guy was a dick and gave me no break or anything, and it switched from 70 to 55 back like 100 yards plus the exit ramp i needed was closed. Not really making exuses but in 13 years of driving i have only had 2 5 over tickets in that time.

I got a lawyer for it so we will see how things turn out.

Hmmm... My screen reads "2 5" that's a lot of tickets in 13 years! If it was supposed to read "2.5" what was the 0.5 ticket for?

Two tickets for 5 mphs over in 13 years. One when i was 16 and one 4 years ago.

I had zero points when i got pulled over also, well in 13 years i have had a total of 4 points.

Which is pretty low in michigan.

A lot of cops are usually willing to give only a warning if you're straight with them and don't ack like you don't know why they stopped you if you really were speeding and not driving aggressively or recklessly. There are enough people out there that really deserve it.

I've been pulled over 3 times in the last year. In the Lightning Corvette and my S.S..

Warnings every time (knock on wood) all the cops were cool. All three were car guys and just B.S.'d with me about cars.

I've been luck(?) enough to come away with warnings too. Don't try to BS them and most will give you a break.

Why is he a Dick, you broke the law and got caught. Why do you deserve a break? The officer did his job, I hope you win in court, but do not call the man a dick for giving you something you earned. Unless his name was Richard.

Dude I'm glad things turned out OK with only a warning. I to have been very lucky over the years. All together I have been pulled over about 5 times, and 2 times I really deserved a ticket for doing burnouts in a local parking lot.

The officers were ALL very cool and just said slow down. It also helps if you do Special Fund Raising Events for there "Bullet Proof Vest Fund"

I alos have FAMILY PBA, FOP, and a business card from "Captin of the State Police" (thanks uncle Jack)!!!

In my experience (which is significant both in tickets and time), warnings are usually given when there is not enough hard evidence to support a ticket. For example back in the old days, in PA the cop had to pace you for 1/4 mile to give you a ticket, usually you got a warning if you slowed down (after seeing or something) in less distance than that.

In all seriousness, what do you think would happen if you slipped a C note in with the papers? I know there's lots of LEOs on the forum - would that be a major no-no?

Well for one like i said it was less then 100 yards from the 70 zone. The exit i needed was closed i was in the slow lane, i had to accelerate and get across 3 lanes (safely) and use the left hand exit. He seen all this, and i hear its a known speed trap area now. And like i said between all the cars i have had and motorcycles i have had 2 tickets in 13 years and none more then 5 over. So yes i stand by my statement he was a dick, if he had made it 19 over instead of 21 over it would have not been wreckless driving. If i was doing 21 over on a normal road i would agree its all my fault, but if i did not look young and was not in a vette i can assure you that i would have gotten some sort of break.
