Alright, let's accept your supposition that Ferrari is head and shoulders better. Let's start with price $140,000 vs $45,000 (I expect alot for that much difference). Perfomance stock to stock are very close. Oops! Let's see you strap on a SC on your stallion and crank out the power. What does it cost to tweek a Ferrari? Can you tweek a Ferrari? My guess is that it is as good as it gets from the factory. No room for improvement. So you better be happy with a stock car. Let's go out for a drive...cool. You'll get lots of looks and pointing. Alright now, let's stop and park it. Uh Oh! Where can you park it. Certainly not at the mall, grocery store, airport, race track, casino. Okay you can hire Guido to stand guard while you leave it outside. So let's see now, you can drive from your home to...your home. A little limiting but alright. The C5 I can go anywhere and park. It's a great daily driver. Let's autocross. C5 would get you there and do well and take you home. The ferrari, no way it might get scratched. Let's talk depreciation, 1999 C5 $25,000 today (loss $18,000). 1999 Ferrari what ($50,000 loss). Bad investment. Maintenance issues, C5 none really if you have a warranty, Ferrari $4000 tune up every 15,000 miles. Ouch! For $4000 they had better be nice to me. In fact they had better suck my D..k and swallow for that kind of scratch. "Honest" you said, 3 times in fact. What's honest about charging $60,000 too much at purchase and $3,600 too much for a tune up. Honest as thieves! And I'll bet you that they have the same percentage of lemons as any C5 out there. But let's recap the options both these cars come with. The C5 has too many to mention. The Ferrari, oops! You get a radio (typically ugly), AC maybe, all in all a very basic car. So you could say that there are fewer things to go wrong. If they don't offer a lot of ammenities, how can they break? What else is a sports car made for but performance. Bang for the buck, C5 hands down wins my vote. Oh but the Ferrari is sooo sexy. Okay you've got me. I like the lines of the Modena. Look, I've already embarrassed a 360 (nice guy though). I guess you can say they are fun cars. Fun to embarrass. Let's be honest here. I've read pleanty of posts that complain about their Vettes, but I read many more posts of guys improving their cars and enjoying the hell out of them. If fact there are lots of guys and gals that enjoy trouble free driving for over 100,000 miles on their stock C5. If you want someone to kiss your rearend then go ahead and pay $140,000. Pay me $60,000 and I'll be nice to you as well. GM produces a top winner at a cheap price and that deserves kudos. They could charge a lot more and sell 100 units but that's antithetical to the American way. So, back the F off and go sip a wine spritzer with your symnbolism over substance buddies at the Yacht club. Oh by the way this is the Corvette Forum, get it.

So we should no longer expect to see you guys bashing the 11 sec Evo's, Mustangs, and STi's...because they were likely modded for far less money than it takes to make the C5 keep up with them?

Bash this guy all you want, but as soon as you bring the money aspect into it, you become major hypocrites to the owners of much cheaper cars.

Look, the SVT SC mustang can't corner to save it life. Those ricers are no better. The comparison between the Ferrari and vette is apples to apples in the supercar category. The only thing that keeps the Vette out of supercar status is the price some mopes are willing to pay. The problem is the Evo's, Mustangs, and STi's try to compare them selves to vettes not visa versa. The vette is more that a one trick show. Don't confuse the two.

And just two weeks ago you were looking for someone to take over the lease on your C5 so you could purchase a 4x4 preparatory to moving to Tahoe, glad to hear you're staying with a sports car, and congrats on the Ferrari. No doubt the Ferrari fourms will be lucky to have you.

Take care and it was great having you with us here on the Corvette forums for the couple of weeks that you have been with us.

I can't believe we are comparing a Ferrari to a Vette.

Can't say I've ever seen Ferrari owners trying to compare their cars to Vettes, but not vica versa.

Drive one if you have the opportuniy, you'll understand.
Until then, you won't.

I agree to a point y2k. Im a regular poster on awjunkies.com. A forum for AW drive enthusiasts (Im thinking of an AWD car for my dd). I got into a discussion on there about a somewhat related topic. For a low 12 sec EVO, STI you can do it cheaper then you can with a C5 (including price of car). But when you start talking anymore power (sans spray) it starts getting next to impossible to maintain driveability. There are very few cars you can put in the 10's, keep as a daily driver, or go autocross. The large turbos it takes to put a 4 banger in the 10's really starts hurting driveability, and the AWD in those cars has way to much parasitic loss. Anyway.. Depending on what you want, the Vette (and also Mustang, Camaro, Firebird) are some of the most agreeable platforms ever building street/strip/track terrors ever created. Anyway, I love Vettes, Evo's, STI's, Mustangs, AND Ferraris (and Grand Nationals also). I know we are all Vette guys, but I dont get why were not all CAR guys.

I cant believe the lack of love Sti's and Evos get... You know the EVO and STI both have higher slaoom speeds then a z06, and close straightline performance to c5? Come on fellas give those boys some love. THOSE ARENT RICERS... They are bonafide sports cars.

Well, technically, they aren't sports cars.

Sports cars have only 2 seats.

I love this argument though, it's funny watching Vette guys squirm and justify of how it's the best bar none. I'm a Vette guy and love my C5..but sorry, I'd dump it for a yellow F360 Spyder in a heartbeat.
If my C5 is so much better in every aspect as people are tellimg me, I wonder why I feel that way?

Would you open the conversation by saying "I overpaid for a car that performs as well as a Corvette" or "Man I have to make my engine scream just to feel like I'm moving" or "I'm lucky too have a go cart with corinthian leather" or I love getting reamed by the foriegn speaking service mechanic just so I can have a Latte whilest I wait" or "I'd never race a Corvette, they can't carry my water" (transaltion: I'd be pissed off and red faced if the GM crap beat my *** in speed, cornering and braking after the coin I just paid)

You are very perceptive that Ferrari owners don't compare their cars to ours. But R&T and C&D do and they really are not better, only more expensive.

And yes, I have been in a Ferrari. I'll say this, they are better from the outside than the inside. I love my coupe from both angles.
