Seems like everybody is a bit pissy from the CF outage. I learn a great deal from people here, and often it is Evil Twin. Not defending anyones comments but I have had the same issues with the ECL recall and CLB fix. Personally, I did the recall to have compliance for warranty purposes, and now bought the CLB from Corvettes of Houston. It was actually Evil's comments that got me off my butt a couple of days ago to buy the CLB. There is a great deal of confusion and frustration with this issue. There were some posts about the CLB not being the proper fix either. I sure was confused, because of the pin's role in the locking plate and how the CLB resolves that. Soon as it arrives and I do the install, I will probably better understand it. It really sucks that GM is endangering our life's and not stepping up to their obligations with a proper fix. We should direct our frustrations at them. Peace!
We should all be channelling our gripes to Chevy, not each other.
Here we are , all singing praise to Dave Hill, when we should really
be burning him in effigy, since GM continues to obviously pretend the C/L
problem is just a figment of our imagination.
These bums at GM have got thair last dollar from me. What good is a
"supercar" if you cant trust it to go to the corner store without stranding you.
This whole C/L problem is a major embarrassment , but no-one outside our Corvette community ever heard of it.
Well, I'm doing my part to badmouth these bums every chance I get.
They have had 8 years to fix this problem, and they CONTINUED
BUILDING cars with a known problem.
Loyalty works both ways, Mr. Hill ............You don't give any, you sure shouldn't expect any back.

w/ steve b 100%. The cruds at GM are ones we should be pissed at....
I use alittle tough love to try to get someones attention... I've been on the inside of the corvette design group for over 20 years., and an automotive engineer for 30+. Ive posted the problems with this car and the right fix... GM is constrained by laws that wont allow them to remove the pin motor but you sure can... If I didnt care about Corvette owners and their problems.. I would not post here... If you think I have an abusive personality.. tough... If you get a little chuckle out of my screen personality , thats great because thats all it is... so many people tell me that when they see my screen name in a post they go to see what I have to say... because usually it makes their bad day alittle brighter. If you cant see that , your blind.

You have to understand something Evil, we are all grown men here with successful careers or we couldn't afford this car to begin with. I don't appreciate being talked to as if I was a 5 year old kid. I personally think you are a little in love-with yourself.

Glad to see you guys on the same page. I just wish the CLB would work on our 98. I may try some surgery of my own on this issue.
listen , on the 97/98 issue, several manufacturers of the by pass are aware of this issue , and they are adding differnt resistance values , IM sorry I cant be of more help but i know there is a 97/98 fix out there.

A new take on A4 CLBs?Maybe I'm wrong.......
[QUOTE=kenrobb]On the A4's, they don't actually remove the locking pin. They put a different locking plate in that has " no holes" for the locking pin to engage. Actually the plate is a spacer washer. The pin still is activated, it just doesn't have anything to lock. The same assembly could be used in a 6-speed, QUOTE]This is interesting. I assumed that they pulled the pin mechanism AND did something with the software on A4s. Someone tell me if the following logic is wrong; What if you had an A4 and had them put in the spacer without holes and then the pin didn't retract. I realize that the steering would still work, but would the computer sense that the pin was "engaged" and still cut off the fuel supply?
I need suggestions. I paid to have the column lock fixed about a month ago. The very next day I received the recall notice. When I turned in my paperwork for reimbursement they said the dealer is saying that I had something other than what the recall is fixed? How many problems can a column steering lock being stuck have? Can someone clear this up for me?
