Default Please, C5 Owners, DONT DO IT !!!

All right people.....
I am starting to see a little bit of craziness with C5 owners, both online and in the real world. Let me explain.

I went to the local dealer to check out the new C6 (I thought it was tight, Nice ride) While there, 2 more C5 owners pulled in to do the same thing, this was during the lunch hour. One of the dudes actually had a C6 on order and was chomping at the bit to get her (fully understandable, been there before )

The second dude, a little younger, was there with his digital camera. He was driving a black C5 coupe. He started taking what seemed like 100's of pictures. I thought he was maybe another forum member, so I asked him if he was going to share these with some site. He tells me, "no, I am going to convert my car into a C6" Huh?

He says he is going to duplicate the lights, sound system, trick doors, EMBLEMS, and paint the center console to match the silver console in the C6.

I remember seeing a rash of this sort of nonsense when the C5's first came out, and its pathetic.

BE PROUD OF YOUR C5 !!! Keep 'em PURE!!!

I just can't see trying to convert a C5 to a C6! What you would put a Camero front on it or something?

At Carlisle I saw a C5 which had been converted to a 1954 C1. Just did not do anything for me. To each their own.

The first instruction would be...

1. Carefully, take a hack saw and cut 6" straight down the back of your C5 to make it the same size as the C6. Then stick this plastic piece on the top in the middle of the recently chopped off rear end for your third brake light and your C6 tail look-a-like is complete. This is how GM did it.

There are a number of C6ers & C6 wannabees bashing the 'old looking' C5. Let's not stoop to their level. The C6 is the next generation, with more HP & TQ, plus better handling. Whether you like the styling or not, we should happy GM stepped up to the plate.

Regarding the original post, personally, I love the style of the C5 and do not understand why anyone would bastardize it's look.

Stuart...Your supercharged Vette is equally awesome!!! And fast!!!

I posted the pic of the three Vettes, but because it shot in a combination of shade & bright sun, it didn't come out too well. I still learning how to use that camera. http://forums.corvetteforum.com/showthread.php?t=892793

With everything you said except GM stepping up to the plate. When we pull into their Chevy "dis-service" dep't. and they stop treating us like we pulled up in a cavalier maybe I'll change my outlook. This is not to say that Cavalier owners should be treated with less respect than us , rather they need to up the level of their entire "service" platform.

Well in theory changing a C5 into a C6 is impossible some C4 owners have tried to do similar.
Where it is not my cup of tea, I must say mods have been a big attraction to me with my car.
People with a passion deserve respect no matter if you don’t appreciate the direction they may go.

Your absolutely right about that, but its hard to do!! I was looking at the
pics of Tracy's new C6, its a beautiful car. When I see a C6 I don't get
"THE" feeling I get when I see a C5. That front end grin and two piece
rear end just doesn't do it for me. I may come around someday, but its
not there yet!

Love that 427!! Would love to go that route but just couldn't sell my
wife on that one!!

Just to add something to my original post, of course you can do anything you want to your car, more power to you ! But I hate to see anyone ruin a beautiful piece of art that is the C5 by trying to make it in to something that it is not.

Believe it or not, even though I have a 2003, I REALLY want to have a 1986 Rag-top. That car was the car that set me over the top on vettes.

As far as the C6 goes, It is starting to grow on me. I wish they would have spent as much time and craftmanship on the C5's interior as they did on the C6. Performance goes without saying, more is better

But I think I will go drop another coat of Zaino on baby and take her for a CREWZ !!

Sounds like maybe all he is gonna do is take all those pictures and have them blown up lifesize and tape them to his car... and whalla... you have a C6.

So my question is: Why put taped up pictures all over a perfectly good Corvette? He could go buy a used pinto or something and tape C6 pictures to it and save himself a ton of $$$$.
