Almost bought a C4 a few years ago but a couple of friends with C5s talked me into waiting until I could afford a C5. I have never bought a car that was even close to the "last of the line" with respect to the model year. I usually buy the 2nd year a model comes out.
That being said, I jumped at the deals on 2004 (last model year) C5s and bought a MY Coupe. I love the car with its styling and performance. I will have no envy for those with a C6 as I love this car.

I'm actually from the C6 section and have problems with this.......The C5 obsolete? No, the camaro and firebird are obsolete....The C5 is now just a past generation. Nothing more, nothing less, corvette through and through.
Obsolete...not quite. I'm only at the beginning of my mods. Super charged and a new cam, and I think I'll still be in the running for a few years to come...besides, she's still a beauty.

Don't bother denying it, it's happened.
Oh well, another year and I'll be posting in the C6 section.
What a goofball. Obviously has never driven a Vette, much less owned one. Get back in your rusty Firebird and

a lot of people that don't know corvette's will still think the C5 is the newer version of the two. I can't even tell which one looks more modern. They are both that good.

Lets take cost aside for those that got a fantastic deal on one of the remaining 2004s (and avoided the first year production flaws that come to some extent in even the best launches)... Obsolete compared to WHAT? The 'regular' C5 is still top-dog whose performance blows away any other similarly priced sports car. Then of course you have the Z06s and enthusiasts who have tweaked their C5s to far exceed their factory capabilities to be put in a class of their own.
Now I agree that the performance of the Corvette has been improved and expanded upon with the new generation, but that hardly renders the C5 'obsolete' (no longer useful) by even the loosest definition.
I'm 47 and not past my prime.
I have 1 Ghz computers with only 256 megs of RAM that still run great.
And my 97 Coupe beat a C6 at the Beech Bend dragstrip this weekend.
None of us are obselete...yet!

You forgot that the C6 is also made by GM. Did I miss the post where they really fixed the column locks on the '04s? How about the gas tank sending units? Rocking seats? Give that some time. You have a Lllooonnnggggg wait. As for your "too many haters" comments, it looks to me like you are just looking to annoy some people here so you can chuckle at your computer screen.
