Got a new optima battery....
I just got an optima red top for the C5. The ac delco battery that was in the C5 is almost new. I'm thinking about putting it into my truck, which could use a new battery (it's 4 years old). However, the truck uses a battery that is quite a bit wider and slightly deeper than the C5 battery, but the same height. It looks like the old C5 battery will bolt in place in the truck with no problems. Do you think putting a smaller battery in the truck would cause any problems? Charging system or other? I can't imagine it being a problem for starting since the truck has a smaller displacement V8 than the C5. Anyone know for sure?

As long as it physically fits and can be clamped down, and has enough "juice" for the truck, I can't see that there'd be a problem.

The key here is to make sure the battery has enough cold cranking amps and can be secured so it won't move around. That being said, use the battery!

My ACDelco AGM battery is 3 and a half years old and still going strong. Don't put a good battery to waste.

I agree that if the CCAs are enough, then you should be able to use it as long as it will clamp down. Good luck.

SKIP THE OPTIMA!!!! I had a 9 month old Optima die just the other day for NO REASON!!!
Get you a good $50-60 walmart lead/acid battery and you will be $60-$70 towards mods or something that makes your car look better!!
If I had it to do over again I would get a toppost lead acid battery!!!!

I have a Y2K battery in my GM family van 60000 miles, and Y2K battery in the C5 14500 miles. Both still work fine!

Wow!!!!!! He changed his battery!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What an achievment!!!!!!!!!!! What a great mod!!!!!!!
Do you have any pictures???????????????
Guess what im doing tomorrow.
Tomorrow im going to fill my windshield washer reservior.
I believe in this case it goes according to the cranking specifications of the battery in relation to the auto manufacturers suggestion.
Why did you post this?

I know that as far as a Sears Diehard Gold battery go, my 1995 1500 with a 350 and my 98 Vert take the same Diehard so I would look at the CCA and if it is sufficient use it!!!!!
