It really sounds as if you need to have a vehicle that turns heads, regardless of how enjoyable or irritating it may be. Let's face it, in some areas of town, Corvettes are plentiful and unexciting to the average upper-class bystander. However, a C5 will always be a pleasure to drive and will reward its driver with great handling and excellent acceleration. When I sold my 68, I did so knowing full well that my 2001 would be more common and hence, less of a neck-turner, but the fact that I have more fun, more comfort, and sooooo much better gas milage makes it all worth while.

No amount of mods will get you more attention unless the noise level is such that your Z06 sounds like a mufferless Nascar racer coming down the street. If that kind of neck-snapping is what you're looking for, then headers and a big cam, along with mufferless Borlas will get plenty, including, perhaps, a costly ticket from the police.

Now if just want plenty of speed, a supercharger will give you all you can use, and no chip in your Dad's Porsche will allow him to beat you in any race.

Good luck, kid.

audi S4 a greater head turner than a Vett, he says ... may if it was on fire in the middle of rush hour.

OK...I'll try this response:

Perhaps you're too young to realize that the Corvette is more than just another fast car. It's a tradition, an American Classic if you will, that represents about the best and longest lasting breed of sports car made in this country.

Sure, you can buy other "fast" cars, but you'll never find a more recognizable car...everybody from little kids to elderly people have admired my '02 C5. I get stares from junior high school students as well positive comments from my own senior high school students where I teach.

You'd be hard pressed to find another car that "out the door" could beat the Corvette. As someone else on this thread mentioned, you can make anything fast with enough money thrown into serious mods. But dollar for dollar, nothing beats a Corvette in terms of style, handling, speed and power. Not to mention the intangibles of the history and tradition behind the car.

Hope this helps...

Actaully it will my dads car chipped will drop the quarter from 11.77, fastest stock time, to low 11's. I know because my friends took his dads twin turbo porsche with chip and beat anothers friends kenny bell cobra by three cars. Race from first gear at 15 mph. Also, raced from 2nd gear at 40mph. Each time to 140. CObra got eaten. But it's also all wheel drive. If it was from a stop the cobra would of gotten killed. This cobra went 11.20 at the track too.

I always develop an attachment to my cars, even my 89 Mazda MX6 GT-Turbo. Some people do buy and sell every few years, but remember that the upcoming 2006 Z06 will have a 427 tucked under its hood and will crank out over 500 ponies. Save your pennies if you REALLY want a head-turning Corvette. Me? I'm waiting to get a Lexus RX400h for the wife. 270HP, 4000lbs, and an average of 34 MPG.

We will see, Maybe if i did cartek or FI i would love the car. Maybe i just feel ****ty cause had a flat tire last night in jersey after i drove there to pick my gf up. And i got it flat beaded back to home and on the way home i saw a black zo6 cruise past mine on 78. But mine was on the flat bead being towed home. It might of been a c5 but it was just after we got on 78 from exit 3, Phillipsburg. Not sure how it is spelled.

The upcoming M3 will have 400HP, but will probably be heavier than the C6 and slower than your Z06.

This is not the new M3. It will be called a 330ti or 330t. I will be faster than the E46 but slower than the new 400 M3 coming out.

It sounds to me like you dont like the Vette because it doesn't look like a ricer, and you think that putting 1k miles on it decreases the value.

You bought a Vette. It is not a ricer, and it does tend to lose more value than imports. Those are two very well known facts. Either get over it and enjoy the car, or sell it and get another 4 door ricer.
