I have them on my car. They came with my Wilwood brake package. I've heard some people having problems with some brands of SS lines, but I've had zero problems.
I have Goodridge SS brake lines. Have had them on the car for 3 years with no problems and a noticeable improvement on braking response. They were a great ungrade from the rubber (expandable) OEM lines.
Goodridge is a good brand to get. I had the Russels and they threw codes from the second they were installed.
Sully, you should check your lines by using an OHM Meter... place one probe on the metal tab located just before the SS line and the other end of the probe to the brake caliper. If it is grounded properly, you dont have a problem with your SS line. If you dont have a good ground on one line, then replace that line.
I've heard the same problem. I'd stick with a good/recommended brand and you shouldn't have any problems.
Good Luck!
For those of you who dont know, Sully has a complete after market brake package on his car that runs a completely different SS line that you CANT get from Goodridge or Russel. I know this because he and I have the exact same brake kit. Any replacement that is needed for his car will have to be custom built. Once he gets rid of his grounding problems, he will be good to go.

We are having intermittent Active Handling / Traction Control system problems. GM's official position is that it is caused by the SS brake lines.
Very possible, and the only way to diagnose is to replace with standard lines and see if the problem goes away. Under some driving conditions, static can be created by the SS lines, causing inaccurate readings in the speed sensor(s).
However, I do not have SS lines, and I had intermittent problems with my ABS/TC/Active Handling system; used to periodically get the Service lights and the messages, and a recycle of the ignition would get rid of the messages and turn off the idiot lights, but set a code C1214. Usually, it would happen after one of the systems kicked in, then one-day, just cruising they messages appeared. Still canceled out with an ignition cycle. Then two-weeks ago, they came back on, but would not cancel out. Last Monday, the dealer ordered both the EBTCM and BPMV, to be replaced tomorrow morning.
Traveler,
I have had SS lines on 2 cars that were tracked.
Unless you like the way the SS lines look I would not put them on my street car.
Proof of a noticeable improvement in braking has not been shown to me.

If I had it to do over, I would have gone with 18" wheels on the front (I ended up getting them anyway) & Bembro Brakes. At least they are still in business.
Hmm, these are problems I have not heard before. I just ordered some SS Brakelines from Sportbrake.com. I have no idea what brand they are. I am getting them as a package w/rotors and pads. Has anyone been using SS brakelines from Sportbrake.com?
