I have always wanted a corvette, when I finally reached the point in life that I could afford it, I went and got it..........now if I could only reach the point where I could afford a new Diablo.............then I could have 5 new Vettes in the garage!!!
- performance (fast/handling)
- inexpensive to buy/maintain (& can drive them for 40k miles, sell,
and not loose a ton, if you buy them right..... i.e., not new)
- fairly comfortable
- american made
- last, but not least, babes like them, a lot :-)
simple....because we are all playful kids at heart...the looks and lines of the C5 are almost as perfect and sexy as a woman's body. Dollar for dollar, you'd be hard pressed to get this performance, looks, and comfort in any other car. Besides, owning a C5 is sort of a brotherhood....just read the forum....C5's Rule

Not a bad lookin Vette you have there ..brother...
I have owned other Corvettes - the last one was a 1969 Big Block Roadster. I wanted a reliable fun, fast car that I could fit in - I wiull NEVER own another foreign car, that left a few choices. The best by far was the Corvette. Not to mention Corvette is not just a car, it is a lifestyle - Far more so than any other vehicle - with the possible exception of a Harley.
I'm a Vette man from day one (that is 1955 when Chevy introduced the V8). Most Bang for the Buck. Great styling, performance, and handling in one package. How can you beat it?
Pretty much all of the above plus COMFORT!!! We had a 2000 Camaro that killed our backs for some reason. I tried out a 97 C5 and my Wife and i both loved it. We now have a 2003 50th Anniversary Coupe in Electron blue. No more back aches...
What other sports car can easily get you into the high 12's with some simple bolt ons, be as reliable as a family sedan, and have so much technology, engineering and stability as the vette, all for a decent price, compared to the competition? You can't get that with any sports car out there yet. You can't drive a Viper around as a daily driver, Ferrari's and Lambos are waaay out of my monetary capabilities, the imports like the 350z, RX-8, and S2000 can't compete with the vette's speed, handling, and acceleration. So what else is out there. The Mustang is not a sports car, just like the GTO isn't a sports car either. Both are fast but can't compete with the vette's 1-2 punch of high HP and light weight. The Cobra can compesate with its blower but its complicated, prone to maintenance problems, and almost as expensive as a vette, yet it can't stand toe to toe with a vette on the track.
When Chevy states that the Vette is the only sports car that matters, you can take that to the bank. To date, its the best bang for your buck in the sports car category and until something comes out that can top what the Vette can do at that price range, it'll continue to stay on top.

V8
6 speed
Rear Wheel drive

Did I mention V8.
An American Icon
12.50's in the 1320 with just DR's
And finally a V8.
Corvette ownership has been a dream since I was a little kid. When the C5 first came out in '97 - I was totally blown away by the style and always thought owning one was out of reach.
I bought my car last year and I've never had a moment's regret. I've seen a lot of Vettes, newer than mine as well as previous generations.....I wouldn't trade my car for anything!
I've wanted a Vette since I was 13, saw a 1963 silver fastback, and heard it fire up. It is the best American V-8, and I agree with all the other reasons mentioned here.
