You're living in a state of automotive Nirvana! Cheap cars, cheap gas.
Here in the UK, the cheapest price is around $6.70 a gallon which is a bit bigger than your US gallon but not much. I filled my car up yesterday and it cost around $100.

I saw $1.59 for 89 octane yesterday. I haven't needed to fill the vette yet but I'm guessing $1.79 (same .20 differential) I've been paying for years here in the St Louis area.
Guess the folks that wanted to influence the election gave up.

PS: My wife and I also got out flu shoots. I thought there was a shortage?
Looking out the window of my office, Sunoco 93 is $1.939 here. Up the street, Texaco and Exxon 93 is $1.919... It actually gets much cheaper if you go to a private label station, like BJ's, Sheetz or Wawa. But I only use their gas in my lawnmower.
Hey Guys, it's all relative. I can remember paying 35.9 cents per gallon for Sunoco 260 and thought it was outrageous. Of course a new Vette was $4000 bucks. So if you compare that to todays price of a new vette at approx. $43k base, hi-test gas should cost $3.60 a gallon.

100 bucks to fill your car up? No way I could ever aford that. If it ever comes to that here I am forcing my fat a$$ to walk or buy a scooter.
No complaint, I just never want to wait in line again for gas again.I sold my 70 LT-1 when gas jumped overnight to 56.9 for sunoco. Was used to paying 32.9 for 260, so I bought a 73 Corvette L-48. What a mistake on my part. Wish I had a crystal ball back then. Gas is cheap at any price so long as we can get it.Save the Wave.>George
As most New Yorkers know, price gouging and price fixing is encouraged here in our lovely state!!
A barrel of gas goes up a dollar, our gas goes up the same day,,, price drops a dollar, it takes weeks to drop..
If you took all the rich elected officials money away and they had to see how the average american has to deal with this crap, I bet there would be changes....(that is if they didn't get caught taking bribes or other moneys under the table!)
I just filled up my truck with 89 octane....$1.60 a gallon here in Iowa.
Would be nice to see it back down to $1.15 or so like it was four years ago. Damn oil companies had record earnings in the 3rd quarter of 2004, I wonder why
