Conversation with my insurance agent when I told her I wanted to insure my new car?

"What kind of car is it?"

"1999 Corvette"

"Midlife Crisis?"

I just laughed.

Anyone who say "Oh you are going through your mid-life crisis". Has got to be just plain jealous. They don't have the go-nads to buy a vette.

Never heard the REDNECK from Bklyn one....and TONY FROM BKLYN I thought was for IROCs.
Stereotypes mean nothing and are usual mentioned by those who are envious of your car.......
Enjoy it and drive!!!!!!!!

I have only owned our vette for about 3 days but I keep getting the "do you sell drugs" and "come on, what other job do you have that you keep secret". I am only 24 and also own my tt supra which although, not modded nearly enough for my liking(only making about 480hp or so) it is all decked out in terms of looks(slight widebody), wheels and interior. It was odd, when I had all sorts of mustangs and what not noone really questioned my work habbits, now with the addition of the vette they do.
I think its more of a status type thing, because, lets face it, vettes are getting EXPENSIVE as hell. The c5, although came out in 97 still has the body lines/curves that the new cars just cant match.

I've run into that kind of thinking too. I usually just laugh because I know they just don't get it.

Default corvettes r cool

I think the most important thing is how you deal with the stereotypes. Most of my friends see corvette drivers as the "bargain" enthusiasts......right up until the smile and wave out of the open top as the brake lights fade away! Or in the unfortunate case that the other car gets in front, the ***** to smile and wave with the headlights in the rearview.

If she doesn't want to go home with you drop her off early enough so you can take the rental back and take the Vette out for a cruise. Hey at least you had somebody to talk to over the burgers and after the rental you will appreciate your Vette even more

Couldn't agree with you more. Didn't care too much for the C1, but loved the C2 (the 1963 "split window" coupe being my all-time favorite!) The styling of the C3 always seemed to be, in my opinion, a caricature of a sports car. But with the introduction of the C4...come on, ladies and gentlemen, who can honestly say that they weren't blown away? It was the most anticipated car unveiling of its time. To be sure, the styling became dated because it took GM so long to replace it but damn, that was one fine looking car when it first appeared! And things only got better with the C5. Think John Cafaro and company were somewhat influenced by the early work of Pininfarina? The lines and curves of the C5 are...just so.

As for the "mid-life crisis" thing...well, by the time the kids had grown up, gone to college, and moved out I was in "mid-life" before I had the discretionary income to buy the spiritual successor to my '63 coupe. Better late than never, hey?

When they started making the 63 I thought the Vette was U-G-L-Y!
But when the C5, Man that is one beautyful car!
Vette a redneck? I don't think so! Most rednecks I know can't afford even a used one.

When people kid me, I just tell them "It is the most car I can buy for my money" - which is true IMHO.

Im an old guy...52 and a Pastor...
I have always just loved the corvette and Jami said I could have one now that Im old...
So I guess she does think there is something about the hype around corvettes... :o
Right after I bought StuzVette...I noticed people notice...but then some gals were a little more than admiring...
...one gal got out of her lane (perhaps I smiled I do that a lot)
when I realized she was in pursuit...it scared me to death..
I flew home and told Jami what happened and that I thought the vette was evil...
Thankfully Ive overcome my fear and now I just let them flock...
...if they cant handle what I preach they all fly away anyway...

EG's right its not a mid life crisis...
...Im not even sure where the middle is yet...

You will never please everyone... Most who post those negatives are only trying to even things out in their own lives.
Jealousy brings out the envy and the need to bolster their own meaningless lives. The pathetic bastages.
Just make #1 Happy.... no not you, you idiot... The wife............!!!!
