If a person feels the need to put a badge on their car to signify something it is not, so be it. The problem could come when they try to sell the car to the unsuspecting/uneducated buyer.

Kinda like a woman stuffing her bra, take her home and get a surprise. Alas, not a good surprise
Badges, no, the rest go ahead. In the muscle car world we are constantly battling fake SS 396's, fake GTO's and the like. There are more big block cars on the street today than the General ever made in the 1st place, trying to pull one over. Buyer Beware.

Swapping out your wagon wheels for Z06 chromies doesn't make you a poser. Neither do the screens. Now putting a Z06 badges on is representing that you are something that you aren't. In the later model C4's you could order the ZR1 wheels for your LT1 C4. Does that make them posers? No. Now go home and get some Vortec Supercharger Badges for your Chevy Aveo!!
This is just my opinion, and I do not mean to offend anyone. I have seen manufacturer "packages" for over 40 years now and I and many like me have always regarded unmodified "package" cars as "checkbook" customs, which is very uncool. Why would anyone want to make their car look like something very uncool? Maybe I'm just a hold over from the days when cars straight off the dealer's lot just weren't fast or trick enough for us to be satisfied.
Now here's a question. Let's suppose that I had a six-speed coupe and I blew the engine. I replace it with an LS6 engine. I upgrade my Z51 suspension to the same thing that a Z/06 has. I put the screens on, the same rotors, wheels and tires, I even get me some seat covers just like a z/06. In other words, in EVERY way, I make my coupe into a Z/06.
Would it be wrong then to attach z/06 badges to it?
Ok, let's not jump to conclusions here. There are more than a handful of REAL zo6's out there that have been converted to verts. Who's to say the driver of the car you saw converted his to a coupe??? Better yet, perhaps that was a one off GM car that was given to an exec after it was decided coupes were a no go for sales??? But, for the most part, some folks here need to lighten up. Whatever makes someone happy is what I go with, even if it is rather tasteless to me (ever see a belly sticking out of a girl's mid-drift? Good Lord, there should be a law! lol!!!)
Anyway, here's a pic of the badges on my car, and the proof of what's inside... Lol, I had a kid in a ricer pull up next to me at a light last summer, look at my car, then lean over to his buddy in the passenger seat saying "haha, what bs, those cars don't come with supercharged 427's"... lol, I made a left at the light
The same people who put z06 wheels, screens and scoops on their coupes/verts/FRC's.
I have the Z06 replica wheels because I think they look better and show off the calipers much better than my old wagon wheels. I think the front screens look cool so I put those on as well but I don't think I'm pretending to be a Z06.

No, but you aren't putting badges on the car to SAY it's a z06 either.
