MN6 Shifter Question
I dont really see much talk about shifters but it may be because all these old guys drive automatics

My question is I dont see Pro 5.0's for corvettes, WS6's and Vettes both use T5-6 but id imagine that the shifters arent interchangable. I have seen B&M and Hurst made one and some others.... What do you guys use "recommend".

I'm going to assume that, since you've replaced a shifter in a T-56, that part's going to be fairly obvious to you. This Tech Tip gives some info on how to get to the shifter: https://www.corvetteforum.com/techti...D=28&TopicID=1
and this page gives you some options on how to shorten the stock shifter. The way I did it was Option 3: http://benelliwang.badassride.com/Shifter/index.html
The hardest part of the whole thing can be just getting the shifter **** off. The most consistent method of success is to use a mid-size set of vice-grips with a long (5-6" or so) 1/4-20 lag bolt used as the adjuster with some kind of sliding weight that you can use as a slide hammer. I used a 5/8" deep well socket; that gave me a good grip so I could get a good upwards whack to pop that wedge anchor (a.k.a the demon pin) out.
Once you've got the **** off, get stuff off until you can see the whole shifter, like in Bill Curlee's post. Take a cutting wheel, hacksaw, whatever, and cut/slice a length-groove in the large diameter part of the black part of the shifter. Underneath you'll see a rubber insulator, that's what's giving that floppy feel. Once you've got the slot cut, you want to peel it open so you can get the black piece off. Then you cut the black piece right at the narrow part of the taper, and drill&tap the black shaft and the silver pin (I used a 10mm tap and die), add a jam nut, and screw the two pieces together.
Voila! An adjustable shifter without the stiffness or noise of the aftermarket shifters, and you sure can't beat the price!
