While installing my Vararam, I came across what is refered to as a SPLICE PACK. You see them in the schematics as a point that numerous ground wires terminate to and it is labled as SP-101.
I have often wondered what the hell a SP is and looks like?
Not saying that is the problem but it's good to know anyway for future reference:
I have a similar issue, but mine is intermittant. Sometime the lights work fine, sometimes I have to sit and flick the switch a dozen or more times, and they will eventually come on.

Rich,
That's how mine started and then it finally stopped working all together and my night driving ended. It's not that bad to swap out and you'll save some big money.
Bill......I have seen alot of those splice packs go back. In my vette and other cars. Every SP I have found under my hood I have removed, soldered the wires together, soldered a ring terminal to them, and then remounted. I have done some of the interior ones also.
I have your answer. I just had the exact same problem last spring. It's all in the turn signal multi switch.
SX:
tail lights gone
fog lights gone
dash lights gone
Brake lights work
GM parts direct was the cheapest at$132 shipped and the install was easy. You need a few torx bits to get at it but all in all a 30 minute job.
EDIT: What the H***! I thought this was new. I'm sure you figured it by now.
my wife mentioned something about her interior lights not working once, we figured it was something to do with her doing something wrong, LOL
Just got the car back from the shop today. They replaced the multi-switch and so far so good. Luckily it was under warranty and I only had to pay my deductable. I actually brought a printout of this thread to the dealership. They confirmed a short in the multi-switch. Will report if issues arise.
Yea I am needing the schematics as well if anyone has them. My dad just bought a 2000 FRC with some issues. I will referance most of those in another post but basically what is happeneing is similar. His Signal Lights are intermitten as well as the 4 ways. All other lights work. No problems with the brake lights or anythign else. I had a similar issue with a the 4 way blinker switch in an 2001 Olds Alero. I was thinking it may be teh 4 way switch like in the olds. If you have them could someone please email them to me or let me know where I can find them. I would appreciate it. Just out of curiosity where is that SP located?

I had the same problem on my 99 coupe, changed the multi-switch (turn signal wand assembly), everything works great now... I would think Chevy would recall this. At night with no tailights and/or dash lights to me is a safty issue...Yes??? The dealership that I purchsed the new wand at said they've seen some issues with these wands. So if Chevy (GM) knows about this, why don't they do the right things and step up to the plate to take care of these saftey issues. Just my 2 cents.
