And if those pilers keep slipping off the lock piece, grab a small drill bit, drill a small hole into the lock piece (it will never been seen, even if it is reused) then screw a screw into the piece and use a hammer and its claws to pry it out. I had to do that when my vicegrips kept slipping. Should have done that first.

It's tought to get out the first time. I just about gave up, but finally it popped out. Having the right size vise-grips helps. Just keep working on it and it will come out. Good suggestion about drilling the hole.

The "pull" method alone is often not sufficient and I recommend that you try this procedure for 100% success:
http://www.conceptualpolymer.com/corvette_install.htm

I've done it many times and this method seems to work best.

Good luck!

Thanks to all of you for the tips. I did find that the key is in there very tight and I have not gotten it out yet, but I'll get it eventually.

I have a small flat pry bar that get underneath it and lifts it in 5 seconds, no strain, no damage. Much easier than pliers.

Default It may not come...

Mine never did come out. Eventually I tried prying it and I broke the pin... 3 times! There is nothing let of my pin to grab onto. Luckily I had a new leather short boot and a ****, so I just twisted the factory assembly off. The boot, top half of the shaft and the **** are still together. The stock pin had been in there for 6 years before I tried to remove it.

Maybe you guys needed to do some push ups?? Mine came out with a simple tug.

Actually I have hear of some guys using lock tight on the threads of their shift *****. This might be the case with some of the Demon key removal issues.

Absolutely the easiest way is to get a flat blade 'driver on both sides of the key, pry up gently and watch it pop out in about 2.85521 seconds. Don't forget to put some sort of rag under the blades to protect your ****.

This method works the best by far of any that I have tried. Once you get it the first time it is very easy after that!

Another method... a small, high-quality, open-end wrench with about a 75 degree offset instead of the usual 15 degrees or so (we used to call them "carburetor wrenches). Hook the little open end under the demon key using a small piece of wood or such to rest the head of the wrench on for a pivot, and the b*tch levers right up. No strings, wires, lubricants... or explosives, let alone explitives!

All the best.

btw, I used a SnapOn so I was pretty sure it wouldn't break.
