The next set I get will be dimpled if for no other reason they look good--my drilled rotors are starting to get hair line cracks--I will not do the cross drilled again--
no benefit for either one of the, just looks. dimpled will probably be a little less likely to crack, but if you are driving on the street, you won't get them hot enough to matter.
I would avoid the drilled rotors. Dimpled look like the drilled and have much less of a chance of cracking. I have slotted/dimpled and they look good and perform well.
Actually the dimpled rotors are used in racing and have to stress problems like the drilled. I was just reading something about them on corner carvers the other day. Well maybe about 6 months ago
So does anyone have pictures of the dimpled rotors installed or does anyone have any first-hand experience with dimpled rotors vs. cross-drilled?
This is really the only issue that I'm still on the fence about.
Thanks,
Check out this page. Near the bottom they have two pictures with and without the wheel. Too bad they are black and white images. You can click on them to make them larger however.
Evil-Twin was kind enough to post a nice color picture of his setup. Look halfway down the page at this link. Looks like they are zinc coated, dippled, and slotted:
I went with the dimpled over drilled, for the reasons stated above. As far as what they look like on the car, the brake dust sits in the holes (somewhat), and they end up looking just like a fully cross-drilled rotor. You'd have to get on you hands and knees to tell the difference.
i road race a lot! and found that the slotted/dimpled rotors are the best, crossdrilled crack and if they are not drill correctly, they can not only crack, they will come apart! as far as i am comcerned drilled is for looks only, no usable function in racing for me. i dont run a vette, but i run a 450 hp 485 ft/torque Porsche 928. the car is comparable in weight as a street car around 3300 lbs, but mine is just a hair under 3000 lbs. brakes are very important, they were upgraded on the car before the motor went in!!!
just wanted to say also, this forum is awesome thank you for allowing me even though i dont have a vette.
