What concerns me about heavy rain is the accumulation and puddles in low areas of the road. That and other vehicles.

If you get splattered with a big enough, long enough, blast of water from an approaching 18 wheeler or other larger vehicle, there could be cause for concern.

Or if you are following a large vehicle during a rainstorm and it hits a large enough puddle, and sprays the front end of your car for long enough and with a large quantity of water, then there could be cause for concern.

That said, I have no intentions of driving my car in heavy rain with the Vararam on it. Some do and have had no problems, but I am not comfortable doing so.

As Vettenuts said above, the Vararam makes you consider a lot of trade offs. For example, I doubt I will be taking any long (1,000 mile +) road trips in my Vette with the Vararam on it. For fear of getting caught in a severe, night time thundersorm where driving conditions are dangerous to begin with. Lose power under those conditions and it could be fatal.

My Baja filter is oiled with PJ-1 oil, and only a light coat on the duct side of the filter. The filter is fairly thick and 2 ply.

It would take a generous quantity of water to get "uphill" all the way up the Vararam ducts, and then through that thick foam filter, and still be enough (supposedly a teaspoon) to hydrolock your car.

Now that is what I would consider a responsible post.

I own you. Always have and always will. I have you seeing Vararams in your sleep. You cannot even make a post without taking a stab at either it, or theories on CAIs, or air filters.

I have made you base your life, your very existence on the futile endeavor of "ridding the world" of Vararams. Thats control. And you are my puppet. So DANCE !!!!

You are so spooked, and have failed so miserably at defending your positions you even think I sell Vararams. And soon, just before they take you away to the funny farm, you will insist that anyone and everyone who disagrees with you about anything ...is selling them too

It will get to the point to where if you and your wife disagree on what color to paint the kitchen, you will insist that she is selling Vararams.

You have argued till you were blue in the face against the Vararam and CAIs and have swayed no one. Only provided "entertainment" and amusement. No one here takes you seriously.

I have that kind of control over you and your dull life. And I know which of your strings to pull to get you to do my bidding. Like I said.....I own you.

VLvette saw it, and everyone else sees it too. You took a stab at it..... you tried......

But you can't "ignore" me. Any more than any other puppet can ignore it's puppet master.

I'll let you know when its time for you to dance some more.

This has to be one of the funiest things Ive read in awhile. The only thing missing is a wonderful reply from EHS.

I would not worry about the rain so much. It's the pubbles and getting the front convered in water thats is the problem.

What I plan on doing is keeping a few tie wraps handy and if I get stuck out in the rain. I will disconnect the front housing that has the ducts attached and tie wrap the filter in place until I get some where safe.

Take Care,

That's a pretty good idea. I also thought another way to further protect from hydro lock would be to take Z06 style screens and put a foam filter on the back of them. These could be oiled and would provide additional filtration and would prevent splashing water from running directly up the intakes for the vararam.
